I went to the Farnam location in 2013. Office staff was not friendly and wait was long with some interesting people watching. Dr. Luckasen treated me, no complaints and no need to return.
I visited a second time for my sons Molluscum. I wasn't impressed in his advice to treat with freezing. It wasn't a pleasant experience for a child however understand every dr has a different opinion. I didn't but return for additional treatment and decided to treat on my own which worked better and less painful for my son. Didn't hold that against him but lesson learned.
A saw him again this year to remove something. Went to the Oakview location. Staff was nice and nurse was very friendly. Dr. Luckasen treated me and was very pleasant. I think you get what you give with him. He smiled at me! He's not a mean man. Just in his ways and not the most personable person.
I have to admit for my mole checks I see a female (by preference) and someone that is more detailed. I don't think he's a bad Dr like others feel.

This place doe NOT deserve any stars. I was insulted at this office by Doctor Luckasen. It was my first time going to this place and I am furious with how I was treated. I was early for my appointment and had to wait 30+ minutes just to get into a room. The nurse was nice, but doctor Luckasen barged into the room, not even introducing himself, and say's what's your problem. I had a lump on my arm about the size of quarter that my general doctor told me to get checked out because it was growing larger in size. I lifted up my arm and Doctor Luckasen who was standing a good three feet away from me just looked at it and said "it's a cyst you're fine" then walked out of the room. My first thought was this dude didn't even feel it with his hands...does he have xray vision or something. Even if it is a cyst I wanted to know what kind it is and why it is on my armpit. I am furious. I wasted my time and money on someone who didn't even put in the effort to actually check out this lump. I can not believe how I was treated. Thank God I got a second recommendation because I had to get it removed immediately because it was infected really bad. Moral of the story DO NOT GO TO DOCTOR LUCKASEN.

I should have read the reviews before hand. I see he has a few good ones, but my experience wasn't good. after driving nearly an ( I live in a small Iowa town) with my two month old baby, I was only seen for 5 minutes. I have been waiting for a ling time to have a dermatologist be able to look at a condition I had, he came in and hardly looked at my skin. This was after he and nurse ridiculed me for expressing that I nurse my children past one or close to two years of age. Not really their business. It was hard enough for me to get there with just having a baby. for him to just tell me what it is I have had my whole life, then prescribe a lotion that did not work. He even told me to go ahead and use whatever else works. If I knew what worked I would have been using it. I've had this condition my whole life. He did not answer my questions. He just have me the name and I looked it up on line. I drove all that way and paid for that. I will be looking for other dermatologist in the area. I will never return to him or his office. I will not recommend him to anyone. He even told me my baby and toddler will probably have it. Well no duh so did my mom. I'm not concerned about that right since they show no signs of it. He rude about it terrible bed side manners. Made feel stupid and judged my parenting. Which had nothing to do with it.

I am probably the 1st patient giving him good reviews! I scheduled an appointment to shave 3 moles by local anesthesia in midwest dermatology center. I read all reviews and I was very disappointed about meeting him., but couldn't change. He came in, saw my moles, and explained about procedure, and answered all my questions ! He was a nice guy, but maybe not like all other nice MDs that we saw before.
I told the nurse that I'm terrified of needles, but I don't pass out..., the injection was painful and I vomit and felt not good ( that is the reaction of my body to any injection) , and you cannot imagine how helpful the nurses were! They helped me to recover and asked me if I still want to do mole removal and I said yes! One nurses just sit beside me and hold my hands to help me feel relax during the removal process! The process was done by Dr, and it was very quick. the nurse gave me some advices after that . My whole experience was good !

I saw this Dr because I had been diagnosed with Melanoma and wanted a complete check by a professional. He came in the room, touched my arms (NOT CHECKED) then my legs. I questioned the excision site on my back which was covered by a bandage. He said to let my regular Dr. look at it. He said I was fine and told me to keep my clothes on. REALLY! I was checked in about 5 min. I later found out he wrote a letter to my Regular Dr. stating he had checked the excision site and it was healing nicely. He must have superhuman powers and x-ray vision since he never saw the excision site. I recently had to have the site excised again and 7 more moles removed. Had I listened to him and not gotten a second opinion, I wouldn't have seen a Dr for a year and wouldn't have followed-up on the anything.

Nurse was nice, this doctor.... was the worst doctor I have ever seen in my life. Angry, bitter, insensitive man. He grabbed my arm very violently without even asking! He treated me like an ignorant little girl and tried to 'lecture' me because I have a small tattoo of written words. I am almost 30 years old, and he is giving me a lecture????

My regular dermatologist was unavailable on my only day free so I scheduled an appointment with Dr.Luckasen. I read reviews about him AFTER I made the appointment and all of them were negative! I had a good experience with him. I only sat in waiting room for about 3 mins was seen right away the nurse was very kind and helpful, and the Dr. was very nice. It was a quick visit I was in and out in about 15 mins. Which is fine with me! Nice guy!

This man needs to stop practicing medicine. During my appointment he didn't even examine my skin. Literally he stood about 4 ft away. The worst medical experience I have ever encountered. Needless to say, I will never return.

This was easily the worst doctor's appointment I have ever been to. He barely checked my skin and did not bother to offer any words of advice for my concerns, other than to "wear sunscreen and wear a hat"- not exactly the sort of advice I was looking for. This appointment was a complete waste of time for me, and I continue to be shocked that this man has been able to practice medicine for so long.
