I saw Dr. D after a previous surgery went wrong with a DIFFERENT doctor and then a second opinion. I wish I saw Dr. D from the start. Due to my visits with Dr D, I learned about proper office staff care from Trisha, Joe the ortho tech and the nurses. Dr. D was able to solve my ankle problem in 6 days after I had been having problems for 8 months. As a result, I can now walk without pain, ski and hike. He gave me my life back after 2 doctors told me incorrect information. Dr. D was kind and informative. He talked both to me and my husband and the interns (he is a teacher after all). While talking to me he would sit at eye level and never made me feel rushed. Was he arrogant as some claim? No. He called me at home after my surgery. Twice! Also, he would contact me after my visits if he thought of something new to explain to me or a different approach. While I saw the fellow at follow up appts., Dr D usually popped in to see me. If not, he was always consulted during my visits.

I was impressed with the doctor and his desire to help. He seemed to constantly be working, and I am not sure when this man takes a break! He always had time for me and my family, no matter what, and he and his staff were very responsive. Dr DiGi put something back together in my foot that did not go well somewhere else, and I am so grateful for my progress. I have to also say that neither I nor my family ever found him to be the least bit arrogrant or brusque, so I am not sure what that other person is talking about below. We thought he was totally deddicated to making me better, and I would trust him with anything.

Dr Digiovanni has been caring for me and others i know at work for several years. he has a great reputation and deserves it. he spends as much time with me as i need him to, and i have never noticed him in a rush. sometimes i have waited, but i never minded because he always spent a lot of time with me, and my co-workers have said the same thing (one works in a hospital and said many of the nurses go to him). i have done wonderful after my surgery, and he helped make sure of that i think. he is the best, and i would (and do) send anyone to him!

I was his first appt after lunch and he kept me waiting almost an hour; I passed him at a computer looking at my MRI with his groupies. He asked where my ankle hurt- where didn't it hurt? Pick one: he diagnosed a torn ligament at subtalar arthritis, recommended injecting it and gave me a script for a useless and expensive brace. He told me if I weren't better in 6 months to come back and he would fuse it. My gut said 'hobble really fast and get out of here!'. I finally found a competent doctor who repaired the torn ligament, took out a bone chip, cleaned the joint surfaces up and took out a lot of debris in two separate surgeries. If I'd listened to DiGiovanni, I'd have a fused ankle and still be in agony. Get a second opinion! My current doc says fusion is the VERY last resort, even after ankle replacement. DiGiovanni is arrogant and brusque and no where NEAR as good as he thinks he is.

I was his first appointment after lunch, and he kept me waiting nearly an hour. I walked by him, as he was sitting at a computer. He came in with 2 interns and spoke as if I were a specimen in the room. He asked where my ankle hurt; too many places to define. Pick one. Diagnosis, subtalar arthritis. He wrote a script for a brace, told me if not better in 6 mos, to return and he would fuse the ankle. Every fiber of my being said RUN because I'd seen the MRI results, and so I got a second opinion from an ankle specialist. I have subsequently had a brostrom procedure to repair 2 torn ligaments, removal of a large bone chip and the specialist cleaned up the ankle joint as well as repaired a torn ligament in the front of the ankle. He says fusion is a last resort, even after ankle replacement. I am SO glad I listened to my gut and went to a different doctor. I found DiGiovanni to be abrupt, arrogant and worse, incapable of listening to, and hearing what his patients have to say.

Wonderful! I had heard great things about Dr. DiGiovanni from a friend whose husband was treated by him, and I found him to be even better than expected. He was nice, friendly, helpful and thanks to him and his team, I can now walk without pain and no longer panic at the sight of cobblestones, fearing that my ankle will give out on me yet again, leaving me on the ground. Love him!

Vindictive. Arrogant. Unable to schedule simple tests with the appropriate amount of time before the procedure. Staff was rude and threatening when asked to reccomend an alternate surgeon. Dr. Responded by dropping my as a patient citing 'threatening behavior' towards his staff. And as my PCP told me in confidence, forced her to drop me as a patient as well. I have seen two other surgeons since, and both became uninterested in helping me as soon as they saw DiGiovanni's letter in my file.
