The doctor is great, but 1 of the staff members is not. I would like Dr. Gothelf contact me because I want to explain this review and see if someone in management if some kind of arrangement could be made so I can continues to see Dr. Gothelf. The staff member would not connect me with anyone in management.

I and my wife have been a patient of Dr. Gothelf for over 25 years. This year my Aetna medical insurance has changed. I have had communication with one of the employees at the office on the phone about three times. She never gave me her name and I never asked. On 1/30/2020 I had an appointment with Dr. Gothelf and I thought I gave the receptionist my new Aetna card but evidently I did not. Instead I signed a paper that everything on the paper was the same. Not knowing about the part that says about my insurance card. I talked to Aetna a number of times and they told me any doctor can accept the card and bill Aetna and they would not lose any money. I would pay cash and send the bill to Aetna and Aetna would reimburse me. I explained this to the employee and told her to call Aetna. Her conversation will be copied at the end of this report. I asked her if I could talk to the office manager. She said she was the office manager. I asked to talk to the supervisor and she said she was the supervisor. My final communication was via The Patient Portal and it will be documented in this report.
5/13/2020----HAD A DOCTOR VISIT VIA TELEPHONE.
5/14/2020---GOT A CALL AT 2:05 PM TELLING ME MY AETNA INSURANCE IS NOT VALID. I WOULD HAVE TO GET DIFFERENT INSURANCE COVERAGE OR CHANGE MY FAMILY DOCTOR. I TOLD THE CALLER THAT OUR AETNA INSURANCE REQUESTED TO HAVE THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE CALL THEM IF THEY ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH AETNA. THE CALLER SAID I DON'T HAVE TO CALL THEM, I'VE BEEN THRU THIS BEFORE AND WE DON'T TAKE AETNA MEDICARE ADVANTAGE INSURANCE. I SAID I HAVE BEEN WITH DR. GOTHELF OVER 25 YEARS AND NEVER HAD AN INSURANCE PROBLEM. I AM PRESENTLY LOOKING TO FIND ANOTHER FAMILY DOCTOR FOR ME AND MY WIFE. I ALSO, TOLD HER WE GAVE MY INSURANCE CARD ON MY LAST VISIT 1/30/2020 AND IT WAS SCANNED AND GIVEN BACK WITH NO QUESTIONS.
5/14/2020---CALLED AETNA AND RELATED THE INSURANCE CALL. WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY INSURANCE COVERAGE.
CAN SOMEONE STRAIGHTEN THIS OUT.

Michael,
We understand Aetna pays the same amount. That is not the issue. The issue is that we have a contract with Healthcare Partners Medicare Advantage Plans. That is why we cannot take Aetna Medicare plans.

We can not see you as a cash pay patient, it violates our contract with Healthcare Partners.
Thank you,
Mike Vasko

I have driven from Summerlin to Henderson for the last few years and was very happy with PA Ginger Lane. She was kind, understanding and would help me with samples for inhalers as I had no insurance. On my next appointment however, the receptionist, when it came to the office visit cost asked if I had insurance. I was so happy to state "YES" however, they didn't take the insurance. She was extremely rude in front of others stating we can't see you and when I asked to speak to Ginger who I could see standing there stated. " I'm to busy". I totally understood yet when I finally found a Dr. in my network I found my appointment could not be made right away leaving me without necessary meds with my conditions. I don't really understand the insurance industry but I do know customer service and all I can say is I left in tears and would never refer this office taking the chance that they too would be treated with such coldness and disrespect.

Dr Golthelf himself is great, but wait times are always very long - usually over 1 hour, and his office staff is very snobby, especially over the phone when you need something. They never know anything and always have to ask the doctor, and you end up playing phone tag with them for 3 days before getting a simple answer or prescription.

So aside from the 30 min wait time on the phone and 45 min. in the waiting area, once you see Dr.Gothelf he in right on target as to what medicines you need. He is not very personable and does not ask about your overall health. He is good at what your problem is at that moment.

Dr. Gothelf is an excellent doctor who knows a great deal about medical issues and prescriptions. We drive a long distance to see him; he is worth the drive. He addresses all my concerns at each appointment. His staff is crushed, but they are trying. His staff is very polite. I strongly would advise folks to see this doctor for good care.

Dr. Gothelf and Scott, his nurse are great, however, it is not worth going to their office. Their office staff and manager, Tina must go. They are rude, unfriendly and only make excuses as to why they can't help you rather than finding a solution to the problem. Stay away from this office unless you like LONG hour plus waits and staff that will not help you~~
