I have went to Dr Payton for a year now, and have finally given up on ever going back. His total disregard for mental health is amazing. He asked why I go to a psychiatrist, I don't look crazy. I told him I have OCD. He told me I need to obsessed about my weight. Under no circumstances should you tell someone with OCD to obsess. Also, he sent me for surgery last year and had zero recollection of this. I would believe he is an all caring doctor if he could remember one thing about me. If you want a pompous doctor that likes to hear himself talk, this is your doctor.

I don't really know why Dr. Payton has received negative reviews from others. I was concerned based on the other reviews he had received about seeing him, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to. He greeted me in a timely fashion, approached my issues with kindness, concern and humor and professionalism. He was direct and took extra time to discuss some issues that were of concern for me outside the specific reason for my appointment. He also fit me in at the end of his day. I thought he had good bedside manner and was extremely knowledgeable. I can't imagine him making someone cry or treating someone badly. I would highly recommend Dr. Payton.

I really couldn't agree more with the previous users comments. Very arrogant and he didn't help me with my problem. I left more confused than when I first came in. I would never go see him again.

this dr. is (unfortunately) a partner in our family dr.s practice. i have seen him only twice... once for a sore throat and once for my son's pre-k physical (my son is 20 yrs. old now and this is still fresh in my mind). both times i left in tears. i found him to be arrogant and rude. he seems to have a problem with women. my daughter-in-law has seen him, too and she also finds him rude and condescending. neither of us are whiney crybabies, far from it. we are both strong, capable women who look for the good in people. i suppose he is knowledgeable enough, but when you leave a doctor's office swearing you'll die before ever seeing him again, does it really matter how well educated he is? i called the state board but never actually wrote them to complain about him. once, while visiting my ob/gyn i was telling him about this arrogant dr., but i couldn't remember his name. my ob immediately named this dr. and said he'd heard the same thing from other patients. at least its not just me!
