He is really bad at diagnosing complicated issues, especially when ADHD is combined with other issues like anxiety or sleep problems. All he did with my son was prescribe medicine for ADHD and keep increasing the dose without answering any of our questions. All he cares about is adding more sessions and keeping increasing the dose for the same medicine that does not work.

Patient for over 10 years; never would change that. Dr. Clayton is an amazingly educated, extremely helpful doctor, who will explain everything - any amount of detail his patients require, to have a thorough understanding of their treatment, as well as other potential options. I would recommend him, and no other doctor, and can genuinely say that he saved my life, more than once, since I have been a patient. He is truly the real deal; for those who, have the experience of trying to find a doctor that is not going to already have a list of medications before even meeting you as a. new patient, don't look further; Dr. Clayton, wants to use his arsenal of knowledge, experience, and just getting to know someone through conversing, rather than throwing pills at a problem to make it go away - sadly that can be said about other doctors, outside of the CFCG practice. His staff is attentive, polite, and a pleasure to talk to, in the rare event any issues arise. There truly wasn't a time in my life, where I would have a single nice thing to say about a Doctor, let alone one that focuses on getting into your head (bad experiences, before I was a patient of Dr. Clayton's), yet, this needed to be said. Mental Health is a massive issue in the US, and Northern Virginia is absolutely no exception. If you have been looking for a Doctor, who will explain things to even the most curious patients/family of, who won't just diagnose at random, and hand pills out like candy, then you have found both a Doctor, and a practice, that sets the bar for upfront, extremely intelligent, kind, thoughtful, and just downright amazing help. At this point, it sounds as if I'm writing a paid advert or something of the like, and that's not the case of course; I simply had an extremely horrific time, and after speaking to my former therapist (who knew I was extremely reluctant to ever see a doctor again), my life has been better. I hope both Dr. Clayton, and his colleagues at CFCG, are sought out by even more patients, because after so long, and so much damage done by other doctors I had seen in the past, he truly has helped me realize my life is worth living, things do get better, and helped me to understand things that I wouldn't ever understand otherwise. This is seriously one of the best offices, best Psychiatric Service in the DC Metro Area, and, being a patient for over a decade, I'd never go anywhere else. I have multiple, comorbid, and intertwined mental health issues, and, just having someone with that amount of experience, who is down to earth, and truly truly cares about his patients, and will make sure they get the absolute best help they possibly can, is something that I'll always be grateful for, thankful for, and, even if he might not like it, I would be crushed if he retired. The one thing I can say is, since the pandemic, it's just a shame that telemedicine is all that can currently happen, because I miss sitting down and seeing my doctor. Heck, it makes a drive that I'm absolutely not a fan of, even not living all too far, seem like nothing the second I'm there, and, nothing about the experience is uncomfortable; again, I have an aversion to psychiatric help, and, would still have that, had I not become a patient of Dr. Clayton's, so long ago now. People get confused with mental health, where to go, what to do, and, it's no easy task, for a patient, let alone a parent, to avoid a potentially dangerous game of "trial & error", which I haven't had to worry about. Truly a Doctor for everyone, and I hope the pandemic ends, so we can have appointments like we used to again.

10/10 Doctor, 10/10 Staff, 10/10 Practice.
It might be cliche, but truly Dr. Clayton is who you go to, as a patient, or a parent of a child/teen/young adult, with mental health concerns, and, the only Psychiatrist, and Practice, that I can say fully eliminates the arduous process of trial and error, which is amazing in and of itself. God bless, and thank you Dr. Clayton & CFCG, for being so great for so many many years. True lifesavers.

Horrendous practitioner and worst excuse of a medical doctor. Have been a patient from his since the beginning and am disgusted I spent as much time with him as I did. I rarely write reviews, but I feel obligated to the public to warn them of this unsympathetic, egotistical, money-sucker. HUGE RED FLAG - RUN THE OTHER DIRECTOON. Completely incompetent in all facets of medicine - from diagnosis and treatment suggestions to PRIVACY. I really mean it when I say this "Doctor" deserves zero stars. RUNNNNNNNNN

I've been seeing him for a few years, and he has always explained things thoroughly and listened to/respected my concerns. He is very punctual and gets through things in an efficient manner. He has a quirky sense of humor, and cares about his patients. The receptionists are fantastic and friendly, and there is always a reminder call about appointments. The doctor is quick to respond to refill requests. The one time I had to page him for an emergency, he was quick to call back even though it was very late in the night, and answered my questions. If a treatment/medication didn't seem to work, he collaborated with me to find other viable options in my best interest. He is also very good about answering questions via email.

I have been in this area 10 years and it took me 6 years to find Dr. Clayton. The first two were just okay but he listens to what I have to say and I feel like we make decisions about my care together.
