Dr. Nelson is a thorough, smart, and very caring physician. He has saved my life more than once, and I cannot say enough about it. He does have a lot of patients, but that is because he is one of the best GIs, if not the best GI in the entire area. Don't be too quick to unquestionably believe some of the negative comments on here-he is a great physician.

I am so glad that I went to go see Dr. Nelson. He is truly an asset to LewisGale and not only is he very smart, he is kind as well. Great bedside manner. Would highly recommend!

Would not recommend this doctor. He has more patients than he can handle. He is too quick to push drugs than find out what is really wrong. My mother suffered with bile duct dysfunction twice and was in a lot of pain. We finally had to take her to UVA medical center. He does rush through appointment. It takes days for a returned phone call and it's always his nurse.

Dr Nelson is a very caring and involved physician. I can't imagine anyone not liking him or being dissatified with his care.

Dr. Nelson is a nice man who will listen and not rush through each appointment. The problem is that he completely forgets about you once you leave and there is no follow-up. Each visit is the same as the last because he has forgotten you. I really like him, but he has let me down again and again.
