Doctor Dobkin operated on my neck (fusion C5) in 2001 & operated on my spine 2000 inserting screws & rods I was 46 years old at the time if it wasn't for Doctor Dobkin I probably would have committed suicide I was in so much pain at the time (I had 3 prior back surgeries & I walked at a 90 degree angle hunch over with a lot of pain) he saved my life. I have been virtually pain free since than, however I've developed spinal stenosis which is common after 20 + plus years, so get off Doctor Dobkin back any surgery of the spin & neck is the roll of the dice. Enclosing the only problem I had at hoag hospital (all most died) was getting the mursa infection got it from both surgeries & if it wasn't for Doctor Fee I would have brought the farm I had this infection in 8 layers of my skin it was touch and go they put drainage plugs all over my body for 2 weeks in the hospital.

He is a liar and a butcher. He insisted on unnecessary surgery and disfigured me with sloppy surgery. Legal mutilation, surgery as a sport. Get a second opinion.

Dr. Frankenstein should not be allowed to touch anyone. If you read any good reviews about this Doctor, consider the possibility they were written by close friends or family. He destroys lives with his Frankenstein Medicine. Read his reviews on ripoff. They are spot on!!

DO NOT let Dr Dobkin anywhere near your back. I had 2 herniated discs and a fractured L5. Dr Dobkin treated me at Hoag, Newport Beach in February 2016.

When explaining the surgery he wanted to give me (THANK GOD I did not let him) the only way he could answer my questions was by showing me my MRI and xray images, he had zero empathy, I felt like I was a car he needed to service, not a human in a huge amount of pain who needed real answers to scary questions.

I had a failed epidural which resulted in a punctured lumbar sack - that resulted in a incredibly painful and serious headache. When the headache started it came on very quickly and was very very painful, Dr Dobkin walked pasted my room saw me, and said "oh I'll come back later" I was clearly in chronic pain, he showed no concern, did not give me medicine and did not get the nurse.

Dr Dobkin and hospital tried to send me home 2 days into my stay in the hospital, I explained I was in chronic pain, unstable and not ready to go home (up three flights of stairs). It took 4 days for them to give me an xray and 24hrs later to read it and notice the fracture.

When I went to see him 2 weeks after my six days in hospital, he did not greet me or even look up from his computer, as I slowly walked into his office. He did not ask how I was feeling, how I was moving or what my pain level was at. He simply explained a very intrusive surgery he wanted to do on me. He also made a rude comment about my mother (who had called from England concerned about getting answers as to what was happening to her daughter and the surgery he was suggesting).

A week later I did my first Physio Therapy session because he prescribed it for me. Within 5 mins of the assessment my back had seized up and was spasming, very very painful. The PT was shocked by my condition and the fact that Dr Dobkin had prescribed PT considering the condition I was in. After the appointment she called his office to tell him about what had happened, and that I was in a huge amount of pain and needed anti inflammatories and muscle relaxants. His secretary took a message saying he would be out of the office for 4 days. My PT explained it was an emergency and that she needed the doctor to talk to me and prescribe me medicine. My PT called back 2 more times during the next week, he never got back to her, and he never called me to get me the medicine or follow up on my condition.

I am only doing better because I went to see Dr Burdi in Laguna Hills, who answered all my questions, reviewed my xrays, MRI and CT scans and reports. He said I didn't need surgery! He gave me strong medicines and a back brace and now I'm doing much better.

None of the above is exaggerated. I know it's hard to believe but this is the service and treatment I received from Dr Dobkin.

He left me 24 hour pain for the rest of my life. My children lost their mother. My life is worthless and I dont want to go on another day. He left us hanging for a year saying he didnt know what the problem was when the symptoms were common symptoms of nerve damage. For a neurologist, he should have know that. I had no idea anything could go so wrong. I put too much trust in this doctor. Be warned. I only read good reviews, well there is bad that happened as well.

His rude front desk help is a reflection of his own casual manner!!! I would love to know when all the folks that gave the office a five for punctuality were there....out of my five visits I had two that kept me waiting for hours and hours with no apology or explanation. In fact, one time myself and two other patients were locked out and kept waiting standing in the hall for an hour of a three hour wait. It's too bad...excellent doctor, terrible office.

Dr. Dobkin did two different fusions on my neck. I woke up from surgery pain free due to him. My scars are hardly noticeable at all. He spent great time with me explaining what was wrong with me and what would happen in surgery. I trust my life to Dr. Dobkin! If it were not for him, I don't know where I would be. He would come into my hospital room after 10:00pm to check on me after working all day and doing surgery late into the evening. This man really cares about his patients and wants nothing more then to help them feel better. I have referred him many times and everyone has felt the same way about him. I only wish all Dr. were as good and caring as he is.

Every day I thank God for Dr. Dobkin. It will be 5 years ago this December that I collapsed from hydrocephalus. I was rushed to Hoag where Dr. Dobkin was on call or in surgery (I don't know, as I was passed out). Lucky for me, he took prompt action to relieve the pressure on my brain and deduce what next needed to be done. A TP shunt later, and I'm as good as new. He's the BEST!
