Dr Semertzides is not only an awesome doctor but he is an amazing person. For anyone who was ever in his Bethel office they too saw dozens of letters from patients and their family members stating how he helped them and many when no one else would or could help them. He did surgery on me three or four times for different abdominal problems. After one surgery I was in Mercy Anderson, it was about seven o'clock at night (my surgery was early that morning) he came to check on me before he went home and saw me struggling to get around. He helped me get on my feet and then walked me around the nurses station and walked me into the room where they keep drinks and such for patients, he opened the fridge and told me what I should drink and how often then he walked me back to my room. No nurse has ever treated me with such kindness. Another time I again had developed adhesions and they had attached to my liver and we're extremely painful, I may not recall his words exactly but the situation was there could be nerves involved and because you can't see nerves it made the surgery a little different than all the others. He explained he would take me into surgery and I would be awake when he made the initial incision and my reaction would let him know about the nerves and immediately he would put me under and continue the surgery. I was very nervous about this procedure and he knew that. The day of the surgery he was waiting in the operating room and said what kind of music do you like then he walked over to a CD player put some music in and started dancing which instantly made me smile and put me a ease. I ask the attending nurse is he always this happy and she smiled, rolled her eyes and said yes. He was true to his word the moment I reacted to the pain the mask was on my face. I had to go back several times to see him usually in his Bethel office, i was waiting for my turn to see him but I saw him walk in and out of the examining rooms several times and walk through the waiting room and back again. When I was in the exam room he walked in and said hello and ask why I didn't say hi when he was walking between rooms and I said you looked busy and he said I'm never to busy for a friend! I told him I was having pain again and he looked at me and said I'm concerned you lost the ability to tell physical pain from the trauma of pain, he said when you first came to see me you wore makeup and wore your hats and your not doing that anymore. He said I will always do my very best to help you, then he walked over to me put his arms on my shoulders and pressed down slightly which made me slump and said but we'll wait till your not walking around like this. I wish I had told him how profound that demonstration was for me and he was right. Dr Semertzides is a great doctor, he understands that to truly help someone you have to help the whole person, that every physical ailment affects a person in their mind and soul and all have to be treated to truly heal. If there were more doctor's like Dr. Semertzides the health care profession would be an art of healing instead of suspicion, addiction and big business. I AM FROM PADUCAH KENTUCKY AND DROVE ALL THE WAY TO OHIO FOR DR S. TO HELP ME. NO ONE ELSE WOULD EVEN TALK TO ME!! I WAS SO MUCH BETTER AND HAD RELIEF OF MY PAIN FOR SEVERAL YEARS!!! I WOULD LOVE TO GO BACK TO HIM NOW. HIS STAFF IS WONDERFUL ALSO.I FELT LIKE HE IS A GODSENT!! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE TO IMPROVE QAULITY OF LIFE!! wonderful man with a great surgical mind and a heart of gold. his staff is tremendous. the idiots accross the street at bethesda need to realize what an asset they have and quiet messing with him.

Dr Semertzides was my surgeon 9 years ago and helped me get past a very painful period in my life. When I developed abdominal pain again 9 years later, I went directly to Dr. Semertzedes because I knew he would take good care of me. Dr. S. has taken on patients with problems that other surgeons shy away from because he has great empathy with suffering and will do whatever he can to alleviate pain in his patients. He has cutting edge knowledge of new technology and is also involved in creating this new technology. From my personal experience, I highly recommend him.

dr. semerzides is the first dr. that took time to talk to me . he knew every thing that i was going through.his staff is so wonderful. they try to get u into the dr. as soon as u call and have a need to see him. He knows about adhesions more than any dr. i have been to. i also like that he is not quick to operate on u.
