Waited 2 hours to be seen first and second appointments. Third appointment very curt - did not read mammogram report that recommended I come back in six months to check lump on breast. Did not address chronic pain cervical and thoracic pain until I requested a bone scan. She was also annoyed that I wanted to go to a different place to get bone scan. Very insensitive

Dr Estabrook did my surgery few years ago. After other consults I found her to be professional , thoughtful, knowledgeable & caring. I followed her recommendation of lumpectomy & radiation . I am doing fine & credit her with accuracy in diagnosis & skillful surgery. I would never go elsewhere & disagree with any negative reviews. I have seen her several times for post surgical visits & find her to be excellent!!! My visits have been since my surgery 8 years ago.

I didn't need surgery, but I was very impressed with Dr. Estabrook during my office visit. She answered my questions thoroughly and reassuringly. She also talked to me in her office after the exam room, which is unfortunately unusual these days.

i had a nightmare experience with dr. estabrook even though she did a successful lumpectomy. i had pleomorphic lcis. she never looked at my breast after the surgery, instead pawning me off to her assistant in training. she was rude and cold. at the time of my last office visit, she told me that i needed radiation - this had never been mentioned before. i was stunned. she then handed me a list of radioligists and told me to pick one from it - anyone who was convenient. i was stunned again. in fact i was so stunned that i took it as a call to action and became very pro-active regarding my breasts. i took my slides to two different top radiologists in the city, neither of whom recommended radiation. my experience with dr. estabrook was that she was an uncaring, ill-informed doctor.

Dr. Estabrook is rated as one of the top breast cancer surgeons and I agree 100%. I knew the first time I went to her that I would survive this horrible disease becuase of her. She was warm, caring, knwoledgeable, answered every question and has beem the best before and after my surgery. My visits every year are still always a pleasure and she is very thorugh making sure to answer any questions. Her staff is very courteous and professional.I reccomend her to anyone who wants nothing but the best in health care.

She is a great doctor!! I really don't agree with the other comment...saying she does not give enough attention...Estabrook spent a lot of time with me and she was very caring! And she is one of the best doctors in NY, if not in the country...you can't go to a doctor that is so well recognized and expect to be seen right away. The fact you have to wait in the waiting room means that she is spending more time with her patients!! SHE IS AMAZING!!

Alison Estabrook is obviously a gifted surgeon and has had a stellar career. My surgery went off without a hitch, though I was disappointed with the amount of scarring. However, Estabrook's bedside manner definitely leaves something to be desired. In that regard, she is AWFUL. She is uncommunicative and brusque. During one of my initial exams, she left the room to do something, rudely leaving the door open to a busy hallway while my breasts were exposed. When talking to her in her office, she was obviously annoyed by my asking questions and in a hurry to get me out of there. On the day of my surgery, she did not see me before or after. Being as I was sedated, I wouldn't even have known she was there, if they hadn't assured me that she was. She was pretty thoughtless and I was disappointed that she couldn't even manage to be friendsly, much less comforting. When you're scared out of your mind that you might have breast cancer, a few words of kindness will go a long way.
