Dr. Gitterman has been my PCP for several years now and has always been an engaged, professional, and competent physician. His general approach seems to be an emphasis on promoting a healthy lifestyle with proper diet and exercise and taking responsibility for your own well being (something many of us need to be reminded of from time to time). During routine annual check-ups he will order all necessary blood screening and EKG and has always called me back after reviewing the results and will point out any red flags that might require some corrective action (prescriptions, dietary modifications, or further diagnostics). If you have serious medical issues it would be prudent to see a relevant specialist, which I’m sure the Dr. would be able to recommend and provide referrals.

Dr. Gitterman was extremely unhelpful! He just proposed a diagnosis of my symptoms but went on to say he couldn't confirm a diagnosis? I had intense rib pain and gastro issues including significant bleeding. He told me to take some fiber and he just assumed it was internal hemorrhoids. I told him that I would like further testing as my symptoms were not improving. His answer was, "I don't have every solution, I'm not God." Seriously? Worst physician I've been to ever. Would strongly recommend seeing anyone other than Dr. Gitterman.

Dr. Gitterman was of absolutely NO help. Instead of properly diagnosing he just assumes and gives you a generic remedy. I explained to him I had a head injury and the weight gain and fatigue were a side affect from it. His answer was," Just work out 5 times a week it's your age", that was a very generic diagnosis. I found a great doctor who actually found the problem. My testosterone level and cortisol levels are so bad I am on medication for them both now. They are two major causes for all my symptoms. I understand it took an Endocrinologist that knew what she was doing to find this problem but Dr. Gitterman gave me a very bad, very false remedy to a problem he couldn't even find what it really was. I think a referral to a Specialist would a been a more professional approach.

Dr. Gitterman is just like all other doctors out there in business for the money, he spends 10 minutes with you, takes notes then sends you home with a prescription. In my case with a prescription for antidepressants, no interest in looking at what caused the depression and all other symptoms that I had described to him. So I went elsewhere and got proper diagnosis and treatment, low cortisol with low DHEA and low testosterone is not something to be overlooked. Depression is the result of an imbalance in the body, not something that comes out of the blue. We need doctors who can look at the bigger picture, not drug pushers.

So far I have not been disappointed, he has been friendly and sympathetic, and is willing to take the time to answer my questions. The staff has been friendly and helpful. The only downside is I must pay for each visit and await reimbursement from CIGNA, but that is probably CIGNA's policy.

Both my husband and I have been seeing Dr. Gitterman since he came to Princeton. We both like his emphasis on exercise and nutrition as prevention measures. He has always taken his time with us, has listened carefully, taken notes, and discussed in detail and in an unhurried manner whatever is on my mind. I've seen him outside of the office, and he remembers my name. I find him cautious, but willing to do whatever is necessary for an appropriate diagnosis. One thing I particularly like is that he returns phone calls at the end of the day, so there is no guessing about hearing back from him.

For the info he provided I could have found it on Google. Since no meds prescribed a trip to the local pharmacy would have saved money on the whole doctor visit.
