The renowned Dr. Cibis saved my son's vision! We commuted from the Pacific Northwest (because of high recommendation.) I was heart broken that a doctor in our town did a botch surgery on my 14 mo. old son's eyes. Cibis was the only pediatric surgeon that was up for the challenge. We relocated back to the Kansas City area and my son has gone to Dr. Cibis for 20 years. Did you know he developed the "Cibis" eye test? As far as waiting ...keep in mind that toddlers and little kids are not always cooperative and take more time. Dr. Cibis is a master of his craft and deserves respect. Cibis saved my son's vision and I will always be grateful for that!

Even with no other patients in the office, we were forced to wait 20 minutes, until my husband complained. The staff actually laughed at my husband, to his face, for complaining about a 20 minute wait (which is a long time for an 18 month old.) There is no concern for patients at this office, you're treated like cattle. We'll never be back.

Last year I took my daughter for a routine eye exam to Dr.Cibis's KU office because they gave me an estimate of $175 for a visit. We spent 2 hours in the waiting room. During the visit, two doctors have looked at my daughter, Dr.Cibis was one of them. He was very respected by the other doctor and staff, but seemed to be very busy and didn't answer any question. The other doctor explained everything very well afterwords. The most unpleasant part of the experience was getting a bill for $410. After a VERY period of long back anf forth calls, the office agreed to accept my $250 paiment, which was very nice of them.

I had a particularly challenging lazy eye, and other doctors said nothing can be done; I'd lose sight in that eye. This doctor worked his magic, and my eyes align perfectly. No more prisms in my lenses! I'd return to him in a heartbeat, despite the 3.5 hour drive to see him. To the previous reviewer: His privileges were suspended reportedly because of having filed false Medicaid claims for services not performed a few years ago. Despite these questionable practices, he takes on exceedingly difficult cases and is known worldwide for his superb surgical skills.
