I had been seeing Dr. Byrd for a year and never saw a significant improvement in symptoms. Instead, most of the medications made my depression worse. While I understand that finding a medication that successfully treats the symptoms of depression is very tricky and mostly trial and error, it took a lot of effort on my part to get the medication changed. His receptionist (his wife) rarely returned my phone calls when all I wanted was to schedule an appointment. As a result, I ran out of my medication and suffered terrible withdrawal - not to mention that I didn't even want to be on that medication anymore because I was still depressed, but I couldn't schedule an appointment to change it. Though I like Dr. Byrd's demeanor, I would never reccommend him due to his receptionist's inability to return phone calls.
