several years ago, i went to dr. rizk as a referral from one of his patients. i was having severe pain in my knee, and eventually got an MRI done, which showed a baker's cyst behind my knee. because i couldn't afford surgery, his answer was to put me on a narcotic pain medicine. after several months on this medication, i called dr. rizk (i lived an hour away at the time from his office) and told him i needed help getting off of the medicine, that i felt i was becoming reliant on the pills, and did not want to become addicted to them, because i felt i was headed that way. instead of helping me off the medication HE prescribed to me, he told me i was a drug addict and told me to go to rehab. i will never forget this man. because of him, i have completely changed my life around. i have been "sober" going on six years now - and with no help from him. great way to "first do no harm" - i am sure this was protocol for him. but for a concerned patient? it hurt and i felt let down.

Dr. Rizk has been my PCP since 2002. He doesn't mind questions, he genuinely cares about his patients, his nurse Kecia is incredibly skilled as well as helpful and pleasant. He listens well. I think he is one of the more intelligent doctors I've been to. Some people are put off by his born-again Christian nature. I am not a Christian. It has not interfered with our professional relationship. If you tell him you're not interested he doesn't bring it up again. I may disagree with him on the details of his faith, but he actually walks his talk: he is extremely ethical, moral, non-judgmental - which I find most Christians fall short on. Dr. Rizk is a good doctor AND a good person - unusual combo. Willing to try different protocols until he finds the right one. Treats patients as individuals.
