Dr. Phillips has a nice manner with my children. However, with parents, his manner is abysmal. He appears to assume all parents are idiots who live & die by Prevention magazine for healthcare knowledge. I have yet to have a visit with him for either child where he hasn't stridently corrected something I've said, including my parenting techniques (I lean toward "attachment parenting", he apparently doesn't). His comments are not phrased as opportunities for parents to learn, but as slap-downs for bad judgment. He is also non-interventionist to what I would consider a fault.

On two separate, recent occasions (and with two different children of mine), this physcian misprescribed the drugs for my children. In the first instance double the dosage of tamiflu was prescribed. More seriously in the second instance, an antibiotic was only prescribed for half the normal dosage (for a serious strepp infection). Not suprisingly, my child redeveloped the symptoms and the strepp infection. A another pediatrician later gave us an improved antibiotic, with the CORRECT dosage. My wife checked with the pharmacist to verify that the original prescriptions were indeed wrong, and they were. This doctor is a very nice guy, and I would like to think that we have just had a run of bad luck with him. But two mistakes like this, on two recent occasions, with two of my children, and two different illnesses, it really makes me wonder.
