Dr. Gilbert is likely one of the most experienced Endocrinologists in Southern California. He is involved in many clinical trials in addition to his regular practice. Although I scored his punctuality as "OK", I fully accept that a Doctors office schedule is subject to change given individual patient needs, hospitalized patients, emergency care or consultations are all reasons why I am ok with delays from my scheduled time. What if your time with the doctor was limited so that scheduled appointments could be met? What if you were the patient needing his immediate attention? Relax when you have a medical appointment. Dr. Gilbert has a different style but if he comes highly recommended by other doctors, hang in for the long haul. My care and long term results have been excellent. That is why I continue to see Dr. Gilbert!

I'm not much given to Internet appraisal of physicians and other professionals. But, while searing for Dr. Gilbert's contact information (a Google search is easier than searching on my iPhone) I saw some negative comments about him that I could not help but contest. Dr. Gilbert knows his stuff and knows how to get the best from his staff. From what I read here, I see that some consider his no-nonsense style to be "rude." I do not. He does not waste my time does he permit others to waste his time. Personally, I consider that to be a benefit rather than a disbenefit. it is a sad commentary on our times that so many people are so concerned about being offended or that people would look to a medical doctor for ego validation. I apologize for having allowed such distractions to set the agenda for my own comments. Dr. Gilbert, while no significant detail escapes is notice, manages to keep the main issues under the spotlight. He articulates his recommendations or directions, as the case may be, clearly and concisely. I've read pretty widely and have fairly advanced understanding of my disease conditions, which often leads physicians, even specialists, in the dust. Not so Dr. Gilbert. He has earned my confidence many times over. Those who dismiss his analysis and recommendation do so, in my estimation, at their considerable peril. As to promptness and concern for his patients' time, Dr. Gilbert does not appear to me to be the typical 9-to-5 physician; He took on my case late in the evening and significant progress had been made by the early morning when most other physicians might have been deciding whether, and the all-important "when," to see me at all. Dr. Gilbert is right up there near the top of my all-time best. Considering that I've been seen by physicians at UCI (a "teaching hospital" associated with a medical school) and Cedars-Sinai (with perhaps the best reputation nationwide for treatment of one of my major diseases).

I was a patient of this doctor for over 7 months, and I would certainly not recommend him. His consultation consisted of reading off the computer my history, as each time I was there, he has no idea who I was, even though I was a regular patient of his. Any question I asked him, he never answered directly and always ended up talking about something else. I wondered if he just didn't know the answer or simply he didn't care. Worst of all, he makes patients wait at least 30-40 minutes to see him. Sometimes it could be up to 90 minutes, and he will try to tell you it's because his computer was down so everything took twice the amount of time. He is completely inconsiderate of his patients. Unfortunately if you live in Fullerton, most endos belong to the same medical group. I now drive to Irvine from Fullerton to see my curent endocrinologist, who was recommended by a friend and is much more professional and caring.

This doctor is extremely rude. He is always short, always makes you feel like you're wasting your time, and makes you feel very uncomfortable. I will never be going to him again and hope that you all read this post and don't go to him either. Don't waste your money going to someone who's not going to give you the time of day. I hate Dr. Gilbert!

Dr is always on time. He is pleasant and caring, takes time with you and listens. He is straightforward and answers questions thoroughly and obviously with great knowledge of his field. I recommend him to others.
