We continue to attend these visits because of the very minimal amount of Portuguese Dr. Malik is able to offer my immigrant family.

However, again the doctor was late by a half hour. When he arrived, he spent exactly five minutes with us.

This was interesting given that this office called my father in a month early from his previously scheduled appointment. This left my elderly father with the impression there was bad news to be given from his recent imaging.

Not the case. Neither he nor his assistant seemed much interested in the alarm they raised with actions of their medical staff.

The adventures continue.

Dr. Malik was disrespectfully late for my father's appointment- a luxury he would not likely return in kind. He was 35 minutes late for the appointment and it was the first of the day. He came in thinking he was examining a Maria introducing himself to my mother, dad's name is not Maria, nor is my mother's. He was ill-prepared and did not walk in with a file or an understanding of why dad, the patient was there.

The staff is not very friendly. They are robotic in performance, lack desire to demonstrate personality though I am confident they have one and just seem adamant on not sharing it. Notably they are friendly with one another and share smiles openly and a light switch goes off when it is time to address the public. They got points for being accurate and efficient with paperwork.

Once he was asked to visit the file, he left the room and read through. When he returned we were able to have a more thorough and thoughtful conversation.

This is our second visit to this doctor. He does not show up prepared for visit at all. The first visit was a waste of time as it turned out the second was as well. I would recommend that Dr. Malik read the referral file/notes as to then raise questions based on his knowledge and expertise- instead of this wing-it as I go along approach, which does nothing to build trust between physician and patient.

Dr. Malik thinks he is God's gift to gastroenterology. He told me that my symptoms were all in my head. I ended up seeing another specialist who diagnosed with me with Crohn's.
