Dr Kaplan killed my mother by overprescribing her pain medication. She slowly was wasting away and he did nothing. She was in and out of hospitals for years. As a child I'm hearing doctors at the hospital say they don't know how she's alive, and yet he continued to give her tons of medication. Later found out one of them was medical fentanyl!! All over a car accident and a bad back..? Not cancer or anything life threatening.

I loved Dr Kaplan. He was different but always a kind and responsible doctor.
He did not over prescribe or any of the other terrible things said here. I saw him for 3 years and only changed drs due to the driving distance . I'm a nurse and know how a dr is suppossed to do things. People don't realize the type of patients he treats are in pain, crazy and chronic malcontents who complain about everything and don't always see things as they are.
He was always mindful of regulations and verifying the actual need for pain medication. All he ever wanted to do was help people . When you try to wean people off of narcotics some will want to attack you.
I hope he's now retired and enjoying life and family . He had a thankless job.

It's to bad that I have to even give Dr. Kaplan one star. I had trusted his judgment while I was very ill. I had sever fibromyalgia and a very bad back. He put me on a dangerous combination of medication that almost killed me. If I would have stayed on his over prescribed medication, I wouldn't be alive to write this review. Not only was the medicine slowly shutting down my organs but a few of the prescriptions effected my mental stability and almost sent me over the edge. Later, other doctors and pharmacists came forward and told me that he over prescribed and mixed lethal dosages that could have killed a horse. Don't trust this man because he's not a man that truly cares for his patients.

I do not know where the other poster got his information but I have used two different insurance companies with Dr. Kaplan and have never had to pay out of pocket except for my copayments. I have been very pleased with Dr Kaplan during the last 3 years that I have been his patient. He is always very understanding of my pain and never makes me feel guilty like some doctors for needing pain meds. He has always trusted me whenever I need to increase dosages of pain medicine, although I'm sure this could vary with a patients diagnosis. Dr Kaplan even called and spoke with my husband at length when I was having issues at home due to my inability to do most housework because of my disability. He has always been a great advocate for me dealing with such different things as assistance at my college and dealing with other doctors, especially during hospital stays where unfortunately I have never had a doctor respond kindly to my chronic pain and the additional meds I needed after surgery.

ALL OF MY REPORTS WRITTEN BY HIM WERE WRONG. He was uncaring and cold during my visits. He did not listen to my issues and when i suffered a terrible allergic reaction, he discharged me. i was left with bad reports and severe pain.

Doctor Kaplan is knowledgeable but seemed to me more interested in collecting payment (he is cash only; he accepts no insurance.) than helping me with my rehabilitation. I found the staff to be average, but not overly polite or friendly. I did overhear a couple of the staff members complaining about being underpaid. They did not get a raise when he increased his fee early this year.

Had issues with Doctor Kaplan when located in Ellicott City, MD. he was very good and caring at 1st, but when I decided to have Back Surgery, he would call my house very upset and yelling on the phone at my wife and I. Office staff were terrible. Dr. Kaplan would order Blood work, i would get it and then see him later, only to find out that they never received the results. happened on at least 3 occassions. After I left, I received several bogus bills for services which he never did. I rate this Doctor as a Fatal Attraction Nut case.
