I owe him more than I could ever repay.
I suffer with chronic head pain which started after an accident in 2000. This was followed by a year of the worst head pain of my life. In and out of hospitals looking for some treatment that would help. Was planning suicide
due to the pain. Finally,
after a 3 week stay in a pain hospital in CT, I was referred to his office. That's when my quality of life improved. I have never looked back. Without his care I don't yhink I'd be here.

I have been going to Dr Brennan for 16 yrs now before he went into practice for himself Originally I exausted my options seeing orthopedists a chiropractor an an acupuncturist It was only after seeing these other doctors for 4 months after being hit by a car crossing the street that i made an appointment with Dr B. He diagnosed me with leaking discs which hopefully would heal on their own unfortunately they didn't Over the years he has managed my pain and given me a true education on pain and my particular problem. After five years of going through MRIs Xrays ct scans it was only Dr Brennan that suggested a discogram which showed the three discs that were still leaking I was promised by an orthopedic surgeon he could fix my problem for good and against Dr Bs advice I had the surgery. I had a dicsectomy lamenectomy aand a cage installed and did ok but only with Dr Brennan help Ive been lucky to have a doctor who has not only worried about my physical health but my mental and spiritual well being too. He has worked with me to increase or decrease my medications so in the future I have somewhere to go. Without him I couldn't have gotten this far. I haven't always been the easiest patient but he's always been patient with me He's strict but always fair. Hes mindful to keep you in check and teaches you to be compliant and responsible. Another words he doesn't let you abuse your medications but is willing to help if the medications become a problem. I will always be grateful for what he's done for me and will continue to be. I recommend him all the time as a result I pay out of pocket and could go to another doctor who takes medicaid but feel he is more than worth it even though my income is very limited God bless this man and all he does for his patients

Dr. Brennan has been treating me for the past 25 years. He is a very professional physician who has compassion for his patients and treats them with respect. He has been able to diagnosis and treat my many arthritis generated issues and keeps me functioning in a very acceptable manner. I would highly recommend Dr. Brennan to an individual who suffers with chronic pain.

Dr. Brennan is knowledgeable and helpful but his nurse practitioner is difficult to talk to and work with. They are also very difficult to work with if you are not financially secure.

I waited for about 10 minutes at the office before seeing the doctor.
Negative Comments:
After successfully treating me for about 15 years, I was abruptly dismissed when I was unable to come into the office upon demand due to a lack of car ownership. This fact had been known through my years of treatment. I was dismissed as a patient with no medical assistance to endure the symptoms of opiate withdrawal. I was treated like a criminal from a physician who had known me and my late husband, also a patient, since 1987. His staff is wonderful.

Under his care, I have been able to lead a somewhat normal exsistance. Before seeing Dr. Brennan, my pain was so great I had atempted to take my own life due to uncontrolable head pain from an accident years ago. After being sent to various hospitals around the area, I was sent to see Dr. Brennan. He worked with all of my other treating doctors to find the best ways to control my pain. Frankly, this man saved my life? Most doctors today, will not risk their medical lic by prescribing some of the more potent pain medications. Brennan, who knows a great deal about pian, is one who is willing. Many doctors in the area will speak his praises as they know he takes the heat off them by prescribing the medications they are afraid to prescribe themselves. Its very important to point out that a large portion of these pain killing medications are now very safe to take. By that I mean that they are now very hard to abuse, if not impossible. If your going to his office to get pain killing drugs to abuse, dont bother. You will be let down as he precribes the safe pain killing drugs. If your going into his office to find pain relief, you will get what you need. Brennan involves your family as well. When I first went to him, he wanted my wife along as well. This is due to the fact that some medications are very serious and family need to be educated as well.
Bottom line, in a time when treating people with these types of medication can be seen in a negative way, Dr. Brennan is willing to help person in extreem pain. There are very few doctors in CT that are willing to help in this way.
Whenever there is somthing that can be abused, we humans tend to go towards it. Cig's, boozze etc..... And when somthing is abused there can be bad outcomes, the worse being death. And when somone dies, the pulic looks for a scap-goat. Some polatition makes a name for himself/ herself by going after drug compaies or the doctors who deal with such medications. Unfortunetly, this makes it hard on the people who really need these drugs to survive.
I do hope that none of you who are reading this, will ever have need of a doctor like Dr. Brennan. But if you are ever in the dark place of extreem pain that I was in years ago, you will want a doctor to precribe you medication which will give you relief. If our society makes prescribing these medications so diffacult that few doctors are willing to prescribe them, you will be out of luck.
I remember my pain was so bad, at one point early on, I would bang my head against the floor to try and get my mind off the pain. This would last for hours and hours with very little relief. From a scale of 1 to 10, my pain was a 9 or 10. Soon I could do nothing else but think of ways to take my own life. Anything to stop this terrible pain. Had there not been a Doctor like Dr. Brennan, I would have done so.
We as a society, must work on better ways to control this type of pain. Until there are better ways to control cronic pain, we must rely on doctors like Brennan to prescribe these very needed medications. There are many deaths every year, of indivduals who took their life because they could not get proper treatment for thier pain. This should not be happening.
Because Brennan was willing to treat my pain many years ago, I am able to work and am happily married. I saw many doctors and was in and out of hospitals until I went to Brennan. I can honestly say that he saved my life. He truly saved my life.

I generally never review anything or anybody, but afte seeing the review above (1 star) I had to answer. I have had pain for 6 years. I have seen about 6 doctors in CT and 2 in NYC. When I saw the 'super specialist in NYC' he said he could help. When I said I lived in CT he said why am I seeing him when he could see Dr. Brennan. I admit it was hard to get an appointment, and the first visit was almost 90 minutes. And I could not get any pain meds for the first visit-he said he wanted to meet my wife first. (he told a funny story about that). I have seen him now for 9 months. It took time, but now I am on 2 meds-after changing from meds I did not metabolize correctly and that was why my meds were not working-after other doctors accused me of over taking them! After switching to a different drug and my new anti-rheumatoid drugs, I am me again. We are discussing reduction in meds if needed-meaning I feel good enough with exercise, prayer, meditation (all things he made/makes me do) so not just meds like so many others or shots like so many others- he cares about all of me. My only complaint: sometimes I wait up to 45 mins and his staff is tough on getting my copays. But, he almost always apologizes for the wait. He and his assistant have fought the insurance company to get my meds approved. I can't blame the copay on him. I can't believe the negative review from someone. I never see anyone who has complained in the waiting room. I wonder if they were looking for drugs. Dr. B and his staff are very kind and extremely helpul. I am very grateful to have him to care for me
He said I have neuropathy and inflammatory arthritis. He explained why my meds -narcoctics alone- were not enough and made me see a rheumatologist as well. I have been on pain meds now for 8 months with him. Thank God and the dr in New York for the referral!!

I have been seeing him since 2002 & know that without him controlling my pain I would have probably committed suicide as my pain was horrible. He knows so much more than what the normal doctor does. I would recommend jim to ANYONE & have for years.

what was wrong wiyh my back it was something that couldn't be seen on any Xray MRI or CT scan without his kind caring ways my career would have been over thanks to him I was able to continue to work for many years As my health has deteriorated he has been there to listen and keep me fairly comfortable always making sure I have somewhere to go with my medications. I have and will continue to recommend him to anyone I meet in pain

DR.bRENNAN IS AN ABSOULTLY AWSUME DOCTOR. YEAH HE CAN BE A LITTLE CRABBY BUT LOOK WHAT HEIS UP AGAINST. dea AND ALL THESE RULES. I COMMEND HIM FOR STANDING UP FORWHAT HE BELEIVES IB,AND HEHAS GREAT COMPASION FOR PEOPLE WITH CHRONIC PAIN. HE IS HURRIED BUT WILL NEVER LEAVE UYOU WHEN YOU WANT TO DISCUSS SOMETHING OR TALK ABOUT OTHER MEDS. I AM NOW ON A PERFECT COMBINATION IT TOOK A WHILE. BUT IAM PAIN FREE AND I GET TO BE A GRAMMA AND PLAY KICKBALL WITH MY LITTLE GRANDSON. HE PUTS HIS CAREER ON THE LINE EVERYDAY FOR SOME GOVERNMENT THAT THINKS THEY ARE DOCTORS AND THEY ARE NOT. THEY WOULD PROBABLY LIKE TO SEE NARCOTICS BANNED FOREVER. IAM HAPPY. I LIKE HIS WISDOM.
