I have been going to Dr. Childers for years and I think he is the best doctor that I have ever had. Not only is he probably the best CranioSacral Therapist in New Mexico (he is certified from the Upledger Institute and you can't do better than that) but his knowledge of alternative medicine is outstanding. But beyond that, he is an MD (i.e. a real doctor) who can prescribe medications and has an impressive understanding of the failings of modern medicine. In other words, Dr. Childers is comfortable in working two words, that of modern medicine and also alternative, holistic medicine. He certainly has his opinions about modern medicine and he can help a patient avoid making some very expensive and stupid mistakes. Thank God I listened to what he had to tell me after I broke my jaw, that's all I've got to say. He's not for everybody but he's certainly the best thing that has ever happened to me when it comes to medicine. And best of all, my insurance (Lovelace) pays for his visits!

Our current United Healthcare does not have a copay for a wellness exam, but we were charged a copay. Requests to refund the copay were stonewalled. Our son went to this doctor for a wellness exam after being in Mexico for 2 years. He was instructed upon leaving Mexico to get a tuberculosis check and to get medication for parasites and worms. Dr. Childers gave him the tuberculosis check but refused to provide a prescription for the parasite medications indicating his belief that the human body is well equipped to naturally fight off these types of infections and that the medication for parasites was not necessary. If you want a naturopatics doctor of medicine, he would be good. But this isn't what we expected.

I agree with other reviewers. Dr. Childers is very disinterested in treating the whole patient. Neither he nor his partner ever remembers you when you come in and does not inspire confidence. We are glad we are relocating so that we can change physicians.

Dr, Childers is an Osteopath who does cranial sacral treatments for me. I have been going to him for years. I have severe pain in my spine due to 5 compression fractures and osteoporosis. I have been to Pain Centers with no help. Dr. Childers has kept me pain-free. He is a very humble man who is very caring. Although he is a physician, he prefers not to go the traditional way of treating patients...but prefers doing acupuncture or cranial sacral treatments. He also sees that I get a shot of B12 and will not charge for it. He is totally approachable and a real nice down-to-earth man.

The office staff is very helpful, but they should just tell the truth. They are not interested in traditional health care, but only in alternative healthcare. I think gluten free diets and massage are great--but when I have an infection, I want to be seen by my Doctor, not the physician assistant, right away. Instead, I had to see their physician assistant AND their intern. They were late, seemed rushed and wanted nothing but to get rid of me. It seemed as if they would be happy if I wasn't one of their patients at all. So I wasn't anymore! I decided to go with a smaller practice with less patients, where I didnt' have to wait two months to see the ACTUAL Dr. and where I could say NO to seeing an intern. Word to anyone considering this practice, just say no.

Dr. Childers is a DO who specializes in Cranisacral Therapy. I went to him for my fibromyalgia. He believes that fibromyalgia can be practically cured using a candida diet. He very much takes a natural approach to medicine. Unfortunately he never seems to remember who I am, often gives me the impression that my visits bug him and doesn't take very much time actually giving you a check-up. I had a sinus infection which he prescribed antibiotics for, but when that didn't work he basically brushed me off and said, well it must not have been a sinus infection. I started having neuropathy and when my bloodwork came back pretty much normal he said it was probably from stress. He doesn't seem to be up to date on the latest medications and treatment approaches for chronic illnesses--he is also not very good at follow up or finding solutions. Overall, he'll do in a pinch, but he won't go to bat for you.
