I had an encore lift done a year ago. The morning after I woke up to black eyes and hematomas on both cheeks. Dr Barson’s initial response at follow up was to tell me I had “nice shiners” and told my boyfriend “people will think you did this to her”. He used a syringe on my left side to draw out blood which resulted in an open wound, and now a horrible scar I’ll have for life. I was told by another Dr I consulted with that because he pulled the stitches too tight in my checks and the stitches on the side of my face were placed too superficially,he had cut off my blood supply. I cannot have revision for this type of scar either. Dr. Barsons demeanor in all of this was very nonchalant and unconcerned. With every follow up visit, I had to repeat myself and remind him of what procedure I had done, what he had previously told me, etc. He told me on one occasion that this is happened to one person and another time he told me it happened to two other patients and no one knows why. This was an absolute nightmare, painful and humiliating and I should’ve seen the red flags when he quoted me a higher price than listed on his website at consult and refused to honor what was advertised. Please avoid any surgical procedures with Dr Barson. Go to a board certified plastic surgeon for anything to do with facial surgery.

Can’t say enough good about my experience. Friendly staff, tons of information, excellent doctor. This guy knows women, he knows what we want and how we want it. I’m 3 days post op and thrilled with everything about this experience, and most of all, my results.

I have had two lip fillers and two other cosmetic fillers over the course of several years with the Dr.. The work was phenomenal and perfect! My only concern when going to a doctor is that the outcome is well done. Many cosmetic Dr.'s do not possess the discernment into detail and this is where Dr. Barson excels! His work has been immaculate. No complaints here only elation!! Thanks for the amazing work Doc and I'll see you again soon!

I had smooth lipo and the fat transfer to my breasts. He took out 2 liters of fat off my stomach and love handles. He then transfered 1 liter to my breasts. One of my complaints was that I had lop sided breasts and I wanted him to fix that. Well he did not and one is still larger than the other. It is like he just transfered the same amount in each breast. They were rounder and fuller but my right breast has a huge dimple in it on the bottom making it look weird when I lift my arms up since my breast is not shaped round any more. My breasts did not hurt after it being done unless someone put pressure on them. A year later after working out though my breasts are smaller than when I went in (not small cause I already had larger saggy breasts when I went in). So unless you are at the weight you want every where else, you do loose the fat you put into them. Plus he does not focus on it (just in small print) you will have an IRREGULAR BREAST MAMMOGRAM FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE ! The fat turns into necrosis and it looks just like cancer!!! I was told this by three seperate radiologists. My stomach looks great. I did the lazer and it helped I believe with my skin. It is tight when I stand up but sags when I bend over or sit down but that is not anything against the dr. But him totally missing a pocket of fat on the bottom of my stomach is. He tried to fix it with some injection (supposively eats away the fat) about 9 months after the procedure and it swells up for about 6 days (which he failed to inform me of, he only said to expect some soreness) Well once the swelling went down there was no change. The actual procedure was not bad (weird it is only in his office). He does act like every patient will respond the same to his treatments. I expressed a concern with the numbing medication cause I have weird reactions at the dentist and dr whenever I have to be numbed. He showed no concern like there was not possibilitiy that I would have a reaction. Well... I did and felt like I was going to die when I got home and it all hit my blood stream. Then my breast insicion did not heal and the tissue died so I have a pretty big scar. It took almost a month and a half to finally scab up. The healing was not too horrible pain wise. I did not take any pain meds and went back to work as a waitress after about two weeks off. I did not start working out though for about 3 months cause your stomach skin feels so weird, so many nerve zings! I wore my brace for the full three months and then started taking it off more until about 4 1/2 months. It has been a year and my sides still get sensitive if someone grabs them, like when my husband picks me up holding me on my sides. Overall I would still have done the smooth lipo on my stomach and sides but never the breast fat transfer! That was a mistake and a waste of money. I probably would have looked around and went to a different dr and not just went to a dr that my friend went to. I also agree with another review that Dr Barson did not remember anything about me and had information on me wrong almost every time we spoke. He really should make more notes or something if he has that bad of a memory and then check his charts. He does not seem to take concerns very well, cause he thinks he can do no wrong.

I have a problem with people like the ones below my post. It's only the few people who have negative experiences who end up rating like this! The majority of people love Dr. Barson and Surface Medical Spa! And no I'm not a staff, I'm a patient who wants to speak the truth, that Dr. Barson is probably one of the greatest people you will ever meet. Some people hate their life and hate themselves and will never be happy with anything or any service. Sorry but I'm going to keep giving POSITIVE ratings because they deserve it. Have a nice day. :)

I can't, with this guy. Alzheimer's, anyone? Staff is highly under-educated. Still waiting for my "follow up/how are you, after we didn't numb the correct area for CO2", days later. No full history taken, didn't even bother to look at my chart before he comes into the room 1 1/2 later... He can't remember a word you say about yourself. He didn't even know who I was when he started laser ing me. Nice. Results better be good. Time to upgrade on the horrible tables, as well. I had to ask about follow up self care (abt 4 diff times, with all different "guess" answers from staff). This guy clearly doesn't care about his patients. I'd LOVE to be proven wrong. I must say, his Botox and filler skills are good. It's why I went back, but this not knowing what you've discussed 4 times now, is unacceptable.

I went to Dr Barson for fat transfer liposuction and breast augmentation. I'm absolutely thrilled! He did exactly what I asked for with minimal pain or swelling. It's scary putting your body in someone else's hands, but my surgery turned out great. Dr Barson is skilled and caring. I would recommend him to anyone.
