Although Dr Kurtz extracted teeth from both my children with no issues, I had a more complicated situation and my experience with his practice was very negative. I am sharing in case others have had similar experience and to help future patients avoid my situation. I had two teeth extracted in Sept 2020 with the plan to get implants. Over the years I dealt with them, I found the office to be very disorganized. It was difficult to get timely appointments (I realize it was during pandemic, but during treatment over 2 years, that did not change). At every appointment (except the surgery itself) I had wait times of over an hour, at minimum. Even for what was supposed to be a “quick follow up”. The office was inconsistent and unclear in their pre operative instructions with respect to prophylactic antibiotics . Thankfully, they did give a post-op pamphlet which I read and followed to a T. Before one surgery they asked me to sign a consent and waiver of liability for surgery…but they had listed the WRONG surgery (it was not what I was scheduled for and was confused with another patient) on the form. Overall, my outcome was not successful. Of course - there are always small odds of failure. However, my personal feeling was that the disorganization of the office contributed to the lack of success. Of course, to be fair, there is no way to prove this for sure. But, for example, for a second surgery after the first implants failed (and Dr. Kurtz did tell me he would not charge me for a second surgery), we agreed on a plan of action to place an implant. However, when I awoke from surgery, Dr. Dr. Kurtz told me he had decided that I would not be happy with outcome so he decided to perform another procedure, to rebuild my ridge, and not place an implant. I feel that if he had taken time to look at my mouth, and taken and additional X-rays (which he had not done), he would have better planned for the extensive surgery he ended up giving me. Whatever the reason, I got a very bad infection and lost all feeling in my upper left side of lip. Yet Dr Kurtz was slow to believe I had an infection and was hesitant to prescribe the right antibiotics. He finally did prescribe a cocktail of antibiotics after a few weeks of me being miserable. The infection started to clear up within 24 hours. When I told him I was upset that I lost all feeling in my upper left lip, and asked if it would ever return he replied, “Probably not. This is what we call making a big deal out of nothing”. I will never forget that moment! I felt that he was dismissive of my concerns so I started to bring my husband to my appointments so Dr. Kurtz would take me seriously. (I am a professional who works consulting with top management of companies, so not exactly a shrinking violet). Dr. Kurtz told him “It is better when you come with her, she is less hysterical”. Dr. Kurtz did have to operate again to remove the infected matter. When I asked what the plan going forward would be, he told me he would try the same surgery again (and again for no charge so I did appreciate that). I asked if there is anything we should change for a better outcome and he said no he would do it the same way. I left and never made another appointment. That was mid 2022. His office never called or followed up. I still have a very large deficiency and two missing teeth in my mouth (I have worked with my dentist to create and wear a temporary prosthetic for aesthetic purposes ever since). It is now 2024.

Read about this doctor regarding the lawsuit with Dr. Dorrance Kelly. He was ordered to pay Dr. Kelly 3 million dollars and this doctor was charged for frauduently billing Medicaid for services that were not preformed. DO NOT GO TO HIM!

I went to Seaford Ford Clinic because my girlfriend wanted me to get a popcorn shell removed from between a molar and gum . A dental assistant irrigated it and it was fine but then he told me I must have the tooth removed . I said why it doesn't hurt and it is healthy but he insisted that it was going to give me problems and I must have it removed . I humbly said okay realizing I am not a dentist and decided to trust them . Dr. Marshall Kurtz procedure to remove the healthy molar the following day . He seemed to think he was just going to grab it with some pliers and it would just pop right out . After unsuccessfully trying for about 5 minutes and telling me that I should bite down harder on the rubber block and I told him that I can't because it will probably on hinge my jaw on one side . He continues trying to remove the tooth for probably another 5 minutes unsuccessfully and that's when I told him you're not getting anywhere

Great aside from his punctuality. Dr. Kurtz seems VERY knowledgeable and confident in his work. His assistants are nice and the front people are helpful too. If I have to go back (hopefully nothing else needs to be taken out) I would try for first appointment before lunch or first thing in the morning in hopes to not have to wait so long.

Had Surgery yesterday with Dr. Kurtz, an extraction and implant placement. After the Local anesthetic wore off my mouth felt as if I had no surgery at all, well done!

Quite surprised it took 6 weeks for an appointment followed by 2 canceled appointments and multiple reschedulings. Horrendous. When I said I was not rescheduling after 2 cancelations, I was suddenly provided an appointment. I arrived on time for my appointment but why it took over 2 and 1/2 hours to get through to see the doctor is outrageous. Next, upon waiting 2 months and then hours the day of the appointment, I was suddenly told by Dr. Kurtz that he refused to render any sort of opinion without a CT scan. I had provided all sorts of x-rays, all taken at various times within the previous 2 months. CT scan alone was about $350+. He then said I had either a bone loss or bone infection in my jaw surrounding my tooth which needed an endodontist and nothing he would do. He then referred me to a Danbury endodontist who then simultaneously tells me if that CT scan is not legible, that doctor would need to do another CT scan, cost about another $350. What is it with these doctors who want to do repeat CT scans with every sort of x-ray from every angle already available, just to render an opinion, then refer you to one other doctor who wants to do another CT scan within the very same week, just days later? I refused to go to this endodontist he referred me to until that doctor confirmed the current CT scan was acceptable. That doctor said that Krutz’s CT scan was fair at best. Seems they jointly want every patient to pay for their new CT scan machines. He then discussed everything else you could think of other than why he thought I needed an endodontist and not an apicoectomy to clean out the bone. The oral surgeon who will do the root canal will probably refer me back to an oral surgeon for the bone problem that is still present afterwards. So, why wait 2 months for an appointment, be forced to get a CT scan because x-rays are now out of fashion and unacceptable method for diagnosis, and then pass the buck on the bone problem....go elsewhere…He was good years ago, but now, I would never go back for any kind of services.

Dr Kurtz performed the procedure for my daughter well - no issues. Our experience went south with billing (seems to be a theme with this individual). After requesting ‘full payment’ pre-treatment, we were then asesssed a followup bill for another 50% of what we had previously understood to be the full cost. There were no adequate explanations for why other than pointing at the insurance company. There is a level of arrogance and focus on $ by this dr/practice vs patient/customer experience. From a skill point of view you’ll likely be fine, but be very careful with costs - this is not a provider who Is transparent and patient-centric. Certainly would not go back.

Love Dr Kurtz. My son's had all four impacted wisdom teeth removed. Since my own surgery did not go well 35 years ago with a different oral surgeon, I was very worried. Everything went extremely smoothly, there were no complications and they healed beautifully. He did a great job of putting us at ease. We went to the New Milford office and it was state of the art, clean, and the staff was friendly.

He is one doctor I would never go back to! He is cocky and he did not listen to the problem that I had. This doctor thinks he is one of the best doctors out there. No way! I think Dr. Kurtz is on a power trip!

I had my wisdom teeth pulled about 2 years ago in July. It was such a great experience. He was very sweet and walked me through everything before the procedure. On the day of the procedure, his staff made sure that I was comfortable and helped me calm my nerves (Getting teeth pulled on Friday the 13th is a bit nerve-racking.) After the procedure, I had very little pain and made a quick recovery. I always recommend him for others looking for a surgeon. Thank you!
