Dr Fretzin is wonderful. Always calm and does a thorugh job of checking for skin cancer. His nurses are always great. Wish they would get rid of the paper gowns though.

I will never go back to Dr. Fretzin . I usually either Dr. Gazer or Dr. Kozeny, both are very helpful and know their stuff. Dr. Kozeny especially takes the time to explain, discuss and really talk to his patients. I found Dr. Fretzin to be rude, arrogant, critical and did NOT explain anything to me or make any suggestions. I'm not even going to repeat on this board what he said to me. I have been going to Dr. Glazer practice since I was a teen, and now I'm in my 50's and have always had a descent experience until I was seen by Dr. Fretzin, never ever again!

As a new client, I made my apt appx 2-3 weeks ago. I took off work to go to the apt, when I received a voicemail stating that the doctor was out sick today. Apparently no other doctors work in the office so I had to reschedule. Not only did I have to reschedule, but I had to take the first available “new client” date (apparently they want to whack your insurance for the max amount the first time around or something), which was another month out. Apparently the dermatologist’s time is more valuable than anyone else’s, so if you like getting cancelled on, and like wasting your time, well then this is the doc for you.

Both my husband & son had gone to Doctor Fretzin for 2 different procedures. Both procedures were astronomical in price! When questioned about the 1st bill we were told that they based their pricing on the highest allowed charge by Medicare. We we then told if we simply told them we did not have insurance it would be half the cost. My son's procedure was a simple procedure (10 min's), that the doctor told my husband he was going to send for pathology. My husband told him it was not necessary, but when we got the bill there is was a $300 charge. When I inquired about it I was told since we did not let them know in writing (which they never told us to do) we would have to pay it. The billing department tried to help by only charging our insurance company (b/c they could) & removing our portion of that charge. BTW the procedures did not even work and my husband had stitches pop out that caused a scar? I would highly recommend anyone considering this doctor to stay far, far away!

My experience with Dr. Fretzin was very unpleasant. He is one of the most arrogant and rude doctors I've ever met. He doesn't listen and is very combative and defensive.

Would not recommend him. Very rude and unhelpful. I would see a different doctor in this practice if you want to go there. Dealing with him is just not worth it and he speaks down to you. Seriously I wouldn't waste my time going to see him.

I love Dr. Fretzin and he always takes his time with my concerns and questions. The staff is just ok. They aren't that friendly, but adequate.

I brought my daughter in for a plantar wart. Our appointment was for 9am. Apparently four other people also had an appointment with him for hte same time. Our appointment was over and hour and a half late. When the nurse mentioned to him we had been waiting quite a while I overheard him say, "Well want do you want me to do about it?" He was short and had little bedside manner. He told me scrape the old dead skin away and demonstrated how to do so with a razor blade. I received the bill and was charged $1200 for "surgery." When I spoke to him about it he blamed his staff and said they "billed it wrong." When I mentioned I would talk to Blue Cross about the bill, all charges were quickly dropped.

I used to go see Michael's father, David Fretzin, who works as a dermatologist in Park Ridge. Dr. Fretzin was highly instrumental in getting my atopic eczema under control. He spends an adequate amount of time with you, shows a genuine concern, and exhibits remarkable mastery and love for science. He is well-experienced, very down-to-earth and professional. I am have no doubts that his son Michael must also be very good! Highly recommended, especially for people on the Northwest side of Chicago who have found no help through the incompetent and truly awful Dr. Lundquist.

Excellent, excellent doctor; very knowledgeable. Easy to talk to, listens to what his patient is saying, and explains the procedures in easy to understand terms. Highly recommend him to both family and friends.
