My daughter, Grace, had her gastric bypass with him on 05/03/11 when he had the Bariatric Treatment Center in Fairfield. He told us because of her weight, 427, he couldn't do laproscopic surgery. He cut her full open. because of this, she had many complications due to adhesions. She had many surgeries due to adhesions. She ended up with a surgery to remove her remnant stomach, spleen, all but the head of her pancreas and part of her colon. We were told by several surgeons, that the issues she had with her liver and pancreas were a direct result of Custer's butchery. He had actually been so inept that he was banned from practicing at Mt. Carmel. My daughter suffered for the rest of her life because of him. She died on 09-17-23 of liver failure. This man should not be permitted to treat anyone.

Dr. Custer wasn’t arrogant IMO. He was good. The staff however… I was told on the phone by my PCP that I needed surgery. Not even the GI place. They just called to schedule and I had an appointment to discuss the surgery with Dr. Custer before hand and I showed up and the front desk lady (always extremely rude) told me they canceled my appointment. I asked why and why they didn’t inform me. She said I didn’t need to see him. I told her “yes I do. He’s performing surgery on me in 2 days and I haven’t even talked to him about it or why I have to have it”. She rolled her eyes and huffed and complained to everyone that I wanted to be seen. So I was but they were very rude. Now moving forward from that, I had been in another program where I was having to come in monthly and arranging multiple appointments with various doctors and all of a sudden they stopped ALL communication with me. I’ve called MULTIPLE TIMES! Left voicemails with 3 different people who worked there. Never once got a call back! I can never speak with them and I can’t even get my medical records to transfer to my new doctor! Just an awful experience. Dr. Custer was good but his practice is ran very poorly and from desk is always so rude it makes you want to cry when you’re there. Don’t recommend..

He put the port of my lap band in upside down. Was sent to another doc for follow-up and it was a miserable experience. I paid CASH for my surgery and had nothing but problems until it broke. Band still stuck in there unattached, doing nothing.

He did a GI scope on me after suffering a GI bleed. Only saw him once. He perfunctory told husband everything waa fine. 4 months due to another emergency, I waa told I had a stomach tumor. 3 specialists told me it waa definitely there when he did scope. Very arrogant. Treatment oukd have been very different had he cared and done his job

Let me put it as nice as I can he's an ignorant and his staff are so helpless.i was on schedule to get surgery then that doc Pam mess up and I had to wait and wait for my surgery,well let's say cuz her mess up he cut me as a patient said he's not taking extra time for me. So the last year was a big wast of my time and know getting another doc they said I would have to start all over again. Ahhh so hate docs like these

I waited for an hour and a half on Dr. Custer for my initial visit in a room. The staff got me in a room at 2:00 which was my appt. time. Saw Dr. Custer at 3:15. He gave me 10 minutes.
Rude, no explanation or apology. Do not feel comfortable from the first impression.
Would not recommend. He is dealing with 8people! Needs a personality class for bedside manners. Could not rate knowledge on 10 minute visit.
