Dr. Amundson was the most knowledgable of 3 surgeons I visited for diagnosis and opinion. His approach to solving my C-Spine pain was in line with the latest medical opinions I could find, and he executed surgery and post-surgery care very professionally with the utmost of care and concern for me. I highly recommend this surgeon for resolving your back pain. I intend to have him perform my needed L-Spine surgery next year. Also, the spine hospital he conducted my surgery at was by far the best care of any medical facility I have received.

Waited several weeks to get in and then only saw the PA and not the doctor. PA was not able to tell me what exercises to avoid but ordered an MRI. Had to wait 3 weeks for the followup apt and this time did see the doctor for about 5 minutes. He was very hurried and didn't even introduce himself. The doctor thought he referred me for physical therapy but he didn't. I had to look up exercises on the internet. Would not recommend him.

Dr Amundson did back surgery on my mother and that went well, however she has had 2 falls since and needed to see him/someone immediately. The office issues an appt for 6-8 weeks from the time you call, even when the patient is in SEVERE pain and the office is told they can check with her regular doctor or practioner about her status. They will tell you that the doctor's nurse or PA will call and as of today, a call was placed 3 days ago and a second call was placed 2 days ago with no response. It takes multiple calls to get ANYTHING done. And yes, I believe you see a PA and not the doctor and are you charged the same? As a retired registered nurse, this is the WORST office I have ever dealt with. My feeling is that they just can't be bothered because my mother is near 80. I am currently seeking another physician for her to see.

I made an appointment for 6 years of chronic back pain with Dr. Amundson based on referral from my primary care physician. I didn't get to see him. Instead, I paid a co-pay to see his PA and get an x-ray, and was scheduled to get an MRI. A $2000 MRI later, I had to get a second appt. with the Dr. to review the results. He came in, went over the MRI (disc tears, above average deterioration, mild scoliosis) and that I wasn't a candidate for surgery yet. He said to take ibuprofen and naproxen. That has worked some, but still can't get through a night without back pain. In total, I saw the doctor for about 5 minutes, and was out of pocket about $400. Disappointed in time and money invested for the amount of attention paid to my case.
