Dr. Amundson was the only doctor (out of 5) who could help my chronic lumbar pain. He performed an L4-L5 fusion and decompression laminectomy in May 2015. Everything went well and is healing perfectly. He is a great doctor. Very kind, funny, and knowledgeable.

He showed compassion. Gave me all of the information that I needed to make a wise decision on whether to continue with PT or have surgery. Surgery went exceptionally well and recovery was flawless.

Dr Amundson, Carrie and staff were all very nice and had great attitudes. My experience was awesome right down to the hospital staff. I was given thoughtful care by all. The doctor and his PA were very precise in explaining the procedure and answering all questions after the surgery. So far I have had good results. my neck is feeling less bunched up. I am confident that the next surgery on my lower back will go as smoothly. I will request and refer Dr Amundsen for all other surgical needs in the future. I never once felt rushed or in the way. I was disappointed to hear a patient complaining as she left that they took to long and didn't seem to care about what she was going through. Some people need to realize they aren't the only ones the DR sees and that he would not have spent HIS life, sacrifice HIS time, school and money if he didn't care about what his patients go through. He is only 1 person trying to help many many others. Great job Dr Amundsen and all of your staff.

Only met with him one time for 5 minutes before my back surgery, because you always see the PA. Had surgery, fixed all my issues. He didn't even follow up after my surgery. I didn't see him til 2 weeks later. But my back still hurts. Went back after another MRI, spent 5 minutes and didnt explain anything-just try the shots again.I have now seen him 4 different times, 3 out of the 4 times, he was rude, spent an average of 5-10 minutes with me. He may be knowledgable, but not worth it to be treated rude and hurriedly.

Dr. Amundson was very clear and professional in explaining my options regarding my back pain. I felt that he presented all options, both surgical and non surgical. He was very helpful and kind.

With any practice seeing a PA is usually the first step and is a good thing. Just because they are a PA and not a Dr does not mean that they are not qualified to assess patients. This is my second time seeing Carrie, last time I only dealt with a different doctors office, seeing that doctor for a total of 10 minutes. Not seeing that doctor was fine with me. Carrie is by far the very best PA you could ever ask for. She goes above and beyond what any other doctor would ever do. Dr. Amundson/Carrie have found 2 serious problems I have been living with since my last spinal fusion S1-L5. The doctor whom preformed that surgery placed 2 screws in the wrong place, and it has never fused. I am not being sch'd to have S1-L5 hardware removed and replaced, and to fuse L4-L5 because of problems caused by the misplacement. Dr. Amundson and Carrie were my last referral before being sent to the Mayo Clinic for help. They have done a great job. I would recommend them to everyone!

Referred to Dr Amundson by Orthopedic dept at Ft. Leavenworth for upper cervical and lower lumbar back pain after MRI revealed Cervical buldging discs and lower lumbar disc herniation. Dr Amundson ordered CT scan and EMG on cervical spine. These tests confirmed spinal stenosis at C5,6,7 causing my right arm to go numb and pain in hand. Surgery followed where two disc's were removed and two bone fusions were placed along with two plates and 6 screws. Surgery was at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. I am now 4 weeks post surgery and back to work and all is great. Dr Amundson and his PA Carrie were simply outstanding. Dr Amundson will be doing the work-up on my lower back end of this month and surgery more than likely in November as he has a policy of no other spinal surgeries within 90 days of each other to allow for full recoveries...in the mean time the pain meds are doing great for the lower issues. Highly Recommended.
