Dr. Sanderson is amazing. He has performed back surgeries on myself and my mother, both very successful. My 93 year old mother's operation was years ago, and still praises Dr. Sanderson.

My husband and I have lost track of how many years Dr. Sanderson has been our go-to doctor for our back issues. He is a superb diagnostician, and has never suggested surgery when there were other more conservative solutions.

He has always been available to us.

Last January, shortly before the pandemic hit, my husband was scuba diving in Little Cayman, when the boat he was on was hit by a rogue wave and his back was severely injured. The medical facilities there were well intentioned, but limited. Ultimately he was flown to Grand Cayman. The nightmare had just begun between a surgeon there and my husband’s dive insurance. Luckily, I was able to get ahold of Dr. Sanderson, and although the surgeon there did not want to deal with anyone, Dr. Sanderson was able to consult with him. Ultimately, because of Dr. Sanderson’s extraordinary care, they arranged for my husband to be medivaced home. Dr. Sanderson arranged for Joel to be admitted to Norwalk Hospital and performed surgery the next day. He now has rods in his back, and with Dr. Sanderson’s care, he continues to do well. Dr. Sanderson was also able to deal with me, which was no small accomplishment.

We were terrified of the possible long term damage to my husband’s back. Were it not for the pandemic, Joel would be scuba diving now, made possible because Dr. Sanderson is simply the absolute best. He is not an ordinary surgeon. His caring and compassion is only exceeded by his skill and knowledge. He is nothing short of an extraordinary doctor.

My husband and I have been a patient of Dr. Sanderson’s for many years. There simply is no way to express in a few words what an extraordinary doctor he is. We first went to Dr. Sanderson for a second opinion for back surgery for my husband. He told us surgery was probable but he wanted to give it time, and put a plan in place to avoid surgery. Years later, my husband has not had to have surgery. He has diagnosed my back condition other doctors claimed was a hernia. He is kind, responsive and, frankly, brilliant, although I think he would cringe if he knew I wrote that. I cannot begin to detail the depth of his compassion and expertise. His practice is well-run. We have recommended him to our friends and relatives, some of whom were extreme pain. They all share our admiration for his care and professionalism.

I had sustained an injury, leaving me in excruciating pain as a result of a crushed L4/l5 root nerve. Within one day, my left leg began to weaken. My PCP saw me and suspected a serverly herniated disc. He treated me with medication, which is pretty standard procedure, we attempted PT to try and alleviate the pressure, but after approx 2 weeks, none of the 24/7 pain was relieved. My left leg continued to weaken rapidly, along with my thigh muscle dramitcaly showing major atrophy. My consultation viisit with Dr Sanderson was absolutely professional and compassionate. He really cared about my situation. After over an hour of reviewing my MRI, and physical status, we carefully discussed procedures for a solution, surgery was my only option. Dr Sanderson knew I was concerned that my injury might be life changing. He told me what was real- not what I wanted to hear, rather the truth and reality. My comfort level with Dr S., quickly became rock solid! I put all my trust and faith in his hands- Dr. Sanderson delivered. Everything from pre op to post op was an overall good experience.. Don’t get me wrong, the post op pain was like getting hit by a truck, but I expected this as Dr Sanderson told me this was going to occur. As of this writing I am approaching 10 weeks post op, and so far, doing great. No nerve pain, working hard on getting my muscle strength and size back in my left leg, and pretty much back on track with my life - a little slower, and a bit more careful, as I continue to heal. I expect my progress to continue as I have returned to the gym, and have begun working out once more. Dr Sanderson was my saving grace. Neal Berko

Went to Dr. Sanderson with numbness and tingling in both hands and a tingling pain in my neck
witch continues down my left shoulder, maybe pinched nerve?
After the evaluation Dr. wanted me to take prednisone for X amount of time, new drug of choice and I disagreed, it's a terrible drug. We did agree on an MRI to see what exactly was ailing me. Remember I'm in pain. After 2 weeks of not hearing from them with an MRI appointment I called them only to find I was lost in the files.
I guess they will only get 1 co-pay from me, not a professional way to start a relationship.

Went to him after seeing 4 other specialists. He could not tell me where my nerve was pinching. Since I had suffered for 20 yrs and I was in terrible pain, he agreed to do the surgery. I had the surgery but after 2 yrs the problem has shifted to both hips/legs and now Im in terrible pain again. Surgery didn’t help nor did this doc.

Even though Dr. Sanderson's office didn't take my health insurance, I'll never regret paying for my visits. Dr. Sanderson is terrific - he analyzed the symptoms and worked with me to find a solution. He was willing to discuss options and interested in making sure I understood what was the source of my problem. He is intelligent, kind, caring and respectful. Just the kind of doctor we all want!

I can't agree more with the other reviews. This guy is THE MAN!!! I just had a microdiskectomy 3.5 weeks ago and feel like a new man. I was in critical pain with sciatica and woke up after surgery feeling great. Was stiff and sore for a week and a half, but I cannot believe how great I feel now. Him, his staff, the hospital...etc., everyone was wonderful, but Dr. Sanderson, in my opinion, is the nicest, most informative doctor I have ever dealt with. There are many more out there who can learn from this man's characteristics and methodologies. I would recommend him to anyone needing this type of care and encourage them to call him ASAP. Again, I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Sanderson...I feel like he gave me new life again!
