This doctor used to be so great; we were relieved that our son was receiving real medical care after poor treatment from an alternative provider, and he wasn't forceful in his suggestions-- which was nice. But then things started to slide downhill--we didn't experience quite the warmth everyone else is attesting to, and you'll notice that his good reviews on websites tend to come in consecutive bunches--just saying. First there was the weird incident where he grabbed my baby's chest to demonstrate that milk could come out, he made it sound cool, it wasn't. Then came more disappointing office visits, including one where I was blamed for a mistake an employee made. I started noticing that weighing was inconsistent (sometimes diaper on, sometimes off, sometimes shoes on, and sometimes off--which really threw off his weight). I got a hold of the charts the AAP uses and the matching percentiles were sometimes hastily calculated. I was lectured about the supposed evils of not enrolling him in preschool (his reasoning wasn't backed by any studies I could find, instead I found a plethora of the opposite), but not given any information about two other medical conditions that he claimed he was totally aware of that ended up causing problems. I don't know what his motivations are for not telling me about the problems and me needing to probe deeper or find out from other sources in order for him to bring it up. It was also annoying to be subject to so many commercial products and samples. I also felt he was more willing to believe my husband than me and preferred making eye contact with him when discussing things. I had to leave, sorry Clayton-believers. I discovered that I would rather have a doctor for my kids that's spot on when it comes to needs than one that feels like the nicest guy I've ever met.
