I'm very sorry that Terry is retiring. He is a great dentist. The new people at his office seem very disorganized. It took them 2 months to sort out problems with my insurance company. Every time I visit there are new receptionists and hygienists. The last hygienist spend half his time lecturing me about how good Waterpik is. I'll be finding a new dentist in North Vancouver.

We liked going to Dr. Terry before he retired. We felt he cared about his patients. We cannot say the same about the new owners of IQ Dental. We are currently looking for a new dentist.

We have been patients of Dr Terry McKay for over 20 years because we like everything about him. Sadly for us Dr McKay has almost retired. The new people running the office are a NIGHTMARE. I have never before experienced anything this bad in any professional office . Beyond frustration, so exasperating. We will get a new dentist as soon as we can.

Dr. McKay has been my dentist since he graduated from UBC. He is amazing. His listening skills are tremendous. He explains everything and gives you options with their pros and cons, both money-wise and lasting-wise. I was hospitalized for 8 months and my teeth were rarely cleaned so he’s had to do many extractions and root canals for me over the last 4 years. I have never had any injection pain and he always checks half way through an appointment to see if anything is starting to hurt. I’ve never had to wait because he doesn’t overbook his appointments like so many other physicians. I believe he also still instructs at UBC.
As doctors go, he’s the best I’ve met and I have met a lot lately.

If you are looking for an amazing dentist who really cares about his patients than no one is better than Dr Terry McKay. We have been patients of his for over twenty years and I would never go to anyone else. I have had Diabetes for most of my life and have had many complications. Through it all there is one area I have never had to worry about, the care of my teeth. He is very knowledgeable, very kind and caring and he is the best with an injection (you hardly feel them) Terry has performed so many procedures from fillings to root canals and everything in between. He is the consummate professional performing each procedure with kindness and lots of care. We are so lucky to have him and his staff here on the North Shore.

He not only teaches but stays current with his own education. I unreservedly recommend him especially if you are dentist phobic. Anything to the contrary would be highly unusual and unlikely.

I first saw Dr. McKay about 20 years ago for a second opinion on getting orthodontics. Thankfully I did as my original dentist wanted to remove a healthy front tooth to move my teeth faster. Thank goodness I got his opinion. I constantly get compliments about my smile. Dr. McKay has always done outstanding work on my teeth. I have total confidence in him. I would highly recommend him for all members of the family. Great dentist! Hygienists, assistants and front staff are also fantastic.

I visited McKay because of a broken tooth I had. After examining, he somehow decided to start working on my teeth from the ones which had the least urgency. Well, what about fixing the broken one before it causes infection in the mouth?! He was supposed to be open to communication, and identifying and hearing out what the patient needs first. The staff was also unbelievable since they canceled my early morning appointment by ASSUMING that I wouldn't go. There are so many clinics out there who pay attention to the patients' needs and respect the patients' schedules by not canceling the appointments just because they assume you won't go. I definitely don't recommend this ridiculous clinic.

I had been seeing my old dentist for 15+ years, but didn't feel like he was giving me any reason to keep coming back. Decided to try Dr Terry McKay and so happy that I did. He really makes you feel important and cares about you. Takes the time to explain what he is doing and why it needs to be done in a certain way. I highly recommend Dr McKay!
