I have given Dr. Small 5 stars in every category. I have never visited a doctor's office that is so punctual. Yes, Dr. Small is never in a rush, he explains everything is such detail, and doesn't mind how long it takes to be clear. He knowledge overwhelms me, and he is beyond helpful. His follow up is great, and if I ask a question, he or his staff gets back to me in a timely fashion. His staff,, too, is capable an more than willing to help in every way. My husband and I are so pleased we have happened upon him. We feel blessed! Pat & Carl Patek

Inconsiderate loud voice for sensitive medical issue. Denied referral for medically necessary symptom treatment after lying to tell me insurance company makes final decision on referral approval/denial. Drove an hour outof my way and paid copay for absolutely pointless visit. Do not trust this doctor or his associated medical group. You can find better for your time and wellbeing.

Despite everything you all may be reading here, this is the best physician I have ever encountered and he saved my life. I was seeing another physician as an internist, because of insurance changes I chose Dr. Small. Through a routine physical exam ( which my old primary care physician had performed 3 months prior) Dr. Small found a lump in my throat which was malignant. Through his care, I have been handled with kit gloves, and recieved the medical attention needed to cure me. I am on the road to recovery and doing very well with a great prognosis from many doctors who have been involved in my care. If Dr. Small, as an internist would not have had the knowledge, patience and intuition to take the necessary steps involving specialists, I may not be here to post this. Shame on all you haters who think you can self treat. If you are looking for a cracker jack box physician go somewhere else! If you are looking for a really smart and educated physician, then you will give him a chance. Yes, it it true that he is booked for several weeks, but his staff has never turned me away when I needed to see him in a dire need. I have refered many family and friends to Dr. Small and they are all treated with special treatment, and by talking to other patients in the waiting room who have been his patients for over 20 years..they would not go elsewhere. Good luck with all your diagnosis.. to all who think the grass is greener with another physician.

ABSOLUTE WORST - DO NOT go to him. I had to since he was my Primary. When something drastic happened to me, he would not refer me to a specialist, treated me with antibiotics for more than 4 months, and upon my insistence, FINALLY referred me whereupon it was determined that I had to have major surgery. I could have died if I had continued the way he was treating me! An entire year of my life was spent on this illness because of his incompetence and let's not even mention his horrendous staff that he relies so heavily upon. Well, let's mention it--they do not listen, they do not give info to dr., they do not return calls, they do not take notes and do not follow up, nor can you follow up with them because they don't know what you're talking about. I could go on and on. All in all, the worst experience ever, and needless to say, I have another doctor. And then it cost me to get MY records and there was, of course, a huge delay in getting them, even though I promptly paid to get out of this mess. Billing practices are horrible as well, and the office manager is rude and an idiot!

Where to begin with this buffoon? Signed up with him because his Hoffman Estates location is convenient; however, I found out after the fact that the hours are a few days per week, for a few hours per day. Very difficult to make an appointment, because it can take weeks to get a hold of the office if you work during the day, then more weeks to find a time during limited office hours for the appointment. Office staff is incredibly rude.

My nose was packed in the ER. "Dr." (doctor in quotes because I doubt he has a degree and license. IF somehow he does, I'm guessing it's from an online diploma mill and a 9 month "doctoral" program) Small told me to go to him to remove the packing when ready. I never had it done before, so I complied. "Dr." Small spent 20 minutes trying to yank it out of my nose. It was horrible pain! Eventually he sent me back to the hospital to have them remove it. I was disappointed because I was looking forward to having it removed as it had been in a while and is very uncomfortable. He said, "Well, I'd take it out but you keep complaining it hurts too bad." So, I went to the hospital. Without batting an eyelash, they moistened it and slid it right out in a matter of seconds. If you have ever been packed, you know the packing is absorbent, becomes HUGE, then hardens. It is not possible to remove it without moistening it. "Dr." Small spent 20 minutes trying to yank it out of my nose without moistening it, then had the nerve to tell me I'm complaining it hurts! He did not feel the need to apologize, did not recognize his incompetence, and refused to talk about the situation.

Needless to say, he's no longer my "Dr." If this review can save even one person from the pain and degradation I experienced, then this was worth my time to write.

Only reason my ratings are 1 star is because it doesn't allow you to rate less.
