Dr. Kevin Eric Hodges was condecending, rude, and uninterested in serving as a Dr. in the ER when he briefly checked in on my Mom who was brought into Kadlec by ambulance approximately between 4:55 PM-5:00 PM on 4/29/2021. My Mom has a condition that brings on migraines that are debilitating, causes her to resemble stroke-like symptoms, and slurs her speech.
The more that my Mom tries to talk the more painful it is. She's described this as what she'd imagine an aneurysm in her brain would feel like. At these moments my Mom is unable to speak as fast and coherent as most would like, so she's experienced impatience in the hospital and is left UNHEARD, IGNORED, and UNDIAGNOSED. Kevin bombarded my Mom with questions as soon as she arrived, tone of voice is EVERYTHING, and the impatience he expressed with her was dehumanizing. By the time I got there approximately 5:06 PM my Mom, STILL IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN, was hysterically crying to me about the fact that she was ignored and would rather die of an aneurysm before she is brought into the hospital again. 5:08 PM the nurse was bringing in a dose of Toradol and discharge papers. Dawn, with registration, came in the room to do her due diligence. Took one look at my Mom and said a few things like, "why is she being discharged?... This isn't right... You know you could request another Dr.". At this point, we're not confident in the care that my Mom would receive at Kadlec and my Mom was ready to go home. This Dr. was enough representation for us in what to expect of the remaining staff at Kadlec, especially during this shift.
