A little over a year ago Dr. Stifelman performed a partial nephrectomy on my husband and thankfully he is doing great! There are no words to express my gratitude for Dr. Stifelman. As a registered nurse myself I knew that I wanted someone with the experience to be able to do partial nephrectomy instead of a total nephrectomy like doctors around my area wanted to perform. Thank you for your expertise!!!

My husband and I knew from the start of our conversation with Dr. Stifelman that he was going to perform the surgery. We knew that we were in the best of hands. Instead of having my husband's whole kidney removed this amazing Doctor performed a partial nepherectomy and removed a non-cancerous growth. The whole experience is truly a testament that he is the best in this field. He took the time to explain the robotic procedure (partial nepherectomy) that he had suggested to be done versus removing the whole kidney. My husband had the surgery on 5/7/2015 and today he is better than ever. We are truly grateful to Dr. Michael Stifelman and his staff at NYU.

The best of the best!
From the minute I met Dr. Stifelman, I had the feeling I was in the best hands possible for the removal of a growth on my kidney. He spent almost an hour with my husband and me discussing my situation and his recommendation for my impending surgery. He was direct yet caring and we both felt I was in the hands of THE expert in his field. The surgery itself went more smoothly that we could have imagined and we were enormously relieved to learn from Dr. Stifelman that he had obtained the best possible results with minimum invasion/intrusion leading to a rapid recuperation. I am beyond grateful to the amazing Dr. Stifelman and his team at NYC Langone for the superior care that I was given every step of the way.

I'm 35 years old, got diagnosed with an UPJ obstruction which required a pyeloplasty to be done. I was scared of the surgery even though it was minimally invasive, but wih Dr. Stifelman's recommendation and record, I decided to have it. It was very successful. After a few weeks of pain that gradually subsided, I feel great. I have nothing but praise for Dr. Stifelman, and can't thank him enough.

Dear Professor Stifelman ,
I am writing to you to express my deep gratitude and heartfelt appreciation for the kind and excellent care my family member, Abraham Sochaczewski, has been receiving in your office. He has been a patient of your office for quite a few years. During this time, we are amazed by the kind, competent and highly professional way you treat him and as well as other patients. You always take time and patience to explain the essence of my relative’s medical condition. You express your opinion about possible treatment in a way that never made my relative nervous or stressed. You have a way of explaining things that is easy to understand. That is a real gift!
When the time of the surgery came, you handled the situation remarkably well. We are still impressed by the way the situation was dealt with. You had long talks with my relative, while preparing him for the surgery, in such a way that he was not afraid to be operated on. The surgery and recovery went very well and he feels very good.
All you efforts make a difference because you take the time to educate your patients, making sure that they understand their medical condition and the best way they should be treated. We know that we can always count on you.
One day, when I had a question about my own medical problems and asked your opinion, you did not charge me. I was delighted with the way you talked to me. You are always helpful and cordial. And I am sure other patients of yours feel the way that we do. You are doing terrific job. Your kindness and wisdom, your patience and sense of humor are unforgettable. We also are very impressed by the support of your fine staff. You are the prize of the medical profession.
Thank you from the bottom of your hearts.

I have just returned from NYU Medical having received a partial Nephrectomy administered by Dr Stifelman and his team. The surgery went very well and recovery was very fast. I returned home after two days and was totally mobile within a couple more days. Recovery has gone smoothly which is testament to a very successfully implemented procedure. I 100% endorse Dr Stifelman and his team. And a big thank you for a job very well done!

Dr. Michael Stifelman is a very talented surgeon. This spring I was diagnosed with a cancerous growth on my right kidney. When my urologist advised that I would have to have the kidney removed, my husband and I did the obligatory search for a surgeon, and were directed by a number of people to Dr. Stifelman. He is impressively credentialed and we became convinced that he was the one we wanted. He did an extraordinary job, and my speedy and complete recovery are a tribute to his surgical skills.

He is clearly a skilled and talented surgeon, and my husband insists that Dr. Stifelman’s greatest skill lies in his ability to communicate. He gives new meaning to the term, ”INFORMED CONSENT”. It was inspiring and reassuring, the way he sat down and fully explained to us what could happen, and all of our options. At each step of the way he explained, in terms that we understood, what the possible outcome of our decisions could be. He even spoke to my husband during the procedure, to confirm an earlier decision that we had made.

Whenever we asked a question, you could see that he listened and thought before answering. At all times he maintained eye contact, and if he felt that we didn’t fully understand what he had said, he would re-explain in different language.

He is what every physician should aspire to be.
