He was the best and I truly miss him. I wish he was still my specialist. He was always up to date, thorough, kind, and the top of his field.

Had a gastroscopy by Dr Maguire, so my first face to face meeting with him was moments before they knocked me out. He came in, abruptly went over a couple of symptoms... made a few uncouth remarks about my family history of stomach cancer (my dad has since passed away of it) and said "well, if I can't find anything today, you'll have to live with the symptoms". Never saw him again after I woke up.... nurses said that's pretty much him in a nutshell. Really really unfortunate experience, hope others have had better outcomes/experiences.

In June 2007, I underwent and emergency colonscopy, during which time I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitus (U.C.)and had biopsies to prove such. I then was put on 5 ASA and a course of Prednisone, with a follow up with Dr Maguire. He stated that I did not have U.C. and it must be a food allergy. He came to this conclusion without even once looking at me. I felt extremely uncomfortable trying to give bowel history and he made it even worse by stating that I should consider my self lucky for him being willing to even see me, being he is an independant. I continued to have bowel problems for over a year and my GP sent me back to him....He scheduled a double barrel..one tube down the throat and the other via colon. He didnt even wait for the local to kick in and left me a note stating no Colitis. However....the biopsy came back that I had 2 types of Colitis....U.C. & Microlymphcystic. Hopefully they find a new Dr. to replace him soon.

I was misdiagnosed in 2007 by Dr. Maguire. I was diagnosed with colitis in 2001, as well as having 2 polyps removed. As 5-years had passed, I wanted to get a colonoscopy to make sure I had no polyps. I'd had a few flare-ups of colitis over these 5-years. Dr. Maguire performed the colonoscopy. At my followup visit with him he stated I did not have colitis. He never looked at me. He said stress and foods do not bring on colitis, which totally contradicted my experience with it. He asked me if I had any questions, and when I went to ask him, he would interrupt me and never answered my questions. I had a colitis flare-up for a year and my GP would not give me any medication as Dr. Maguire stated I did not have colitis. Long story short, I asked to have another colonoscopy by any other doctor, which I had 2-months ago, and I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. This new doctor couldn't understand why Dr. Maguire diagnosed me as not having colitis. I suffered over a year.

I find this doctor very 'different', yet very knowledgeable in his field. He helped me immensely, by diagnosing and treating my colitis. It is now in remission. He talks into a small tape recorder, I suppose, to refer to later, if necessary. I asked him if he would write a letter stating his opinion as to the probable cause of my colitis, due to a certain drug I took, and he flatly refused to. He is against the possibility of drugs causing illness or injury. He has a dry sense of humor, however, and he always made me laugh when I visited. I like him and I'm sorry about his accident and the possibility that he will no longer be able to practice. I thank him for all he did for me, in my diagnoses and treatment. Cheers to you, Terry. I was treated like an object not a person. Very disinterested in anything that I tried to tell him. Told me that I would just have to live with my problem. Will never return to this doctor.

My experience was similar to others who posted. I felt that I was not dealt with as a human being but processed. I have never been treated so badly by a doctor. I've been trying to get a second opinion for 2 years but that is difficult to do these days as specialists are having a hard time finding time to give initial opinions let alone second ones.

i found this doctor discourteous, bordering on rudeness. he interrupts you and doesn't look at you. i found myself walking out on this doctor's office to seek medical help elsewhere, so can't comment on his knowledge.
