Dr Jones provided inaccurate information on a report. This is troublesome when reports are being shared amongst medical and teaching professionals.

I waited 18 months to see Dr. Jones-Stokreef in regards to diagnosis of ASD for my female child.
2- 2 hour appointments and I was told she DID NOT have Autism.
She sent her clinical evaluation which I gave to the child's school.
School said it WAS NOT any type of diagnosis.
To doctor's credit she DID take the time out of her busy schedule to come for a meeting at the school.
BAD PART? It was in that meeting at the school that she decides to tell EVERYONE that she didn't do a complete evaluation because "the other members of the team weren't available" ( psychologist etc)
AND she decided to proceed with everything on her own!

Did I mention that I waited EIGHTEEN MONTHS to see her?!

EIGHTEEN MONTHS WASTED because now we are back at square one.

Oh and she decided because my child could have a conversation and play back and forth games for 10 minutes that she wasn't ASD... (she forgot that whole part where she couldn't understand a WORD that came out of my child's mouth without me interpreting for her AND forgot that for most of the appointment my child decided to speak in unintelligible babble.)

Oh and my child's sibling ( a boy..younger) is ASD.. I think I might know what ASD looks like.
Just because she is a girl she can't have autism because she isn't "aggressive enough"

SHAME ON YOU DR. STOKREEF.. Upholding gender bias in diagnosis and causing little children to suffer without appropriate services..

She could have rescheduled the appointment and I wouldn't have liked it but would have accepted it because my child comes first.
Girls can have autism too!

Dr. Jones is absolutely amazing - thorough, kind, respectful, encouraging. Very knowledgeable and helpful. We are so lucky to have someone of her calibre helping us. She takes the time to listen. She is not afraid to say the hard things that I may not want to hear but need to hear, but does so in a very supportive manner. I am so grateful that my daughter has her for her doctor. Very thorough. When your appointment is done, you walk out knowing that you can trust what Dr. Jones has told you. Absolute confidence.

I was surprised by Dr. Jones judgmental, unkind response toward my autistic son's needing a bottle. Partway through my son's diagnostic interview at 4.5 years of age, I gave him a bottle to help calm him down (he was using one at this age as he had sensory issues with liquid touching his lips). I noticed Dr. Jones actually rolled her eyes at the speech pathologist who was also in the room. Though my son would not pick up such a hurtful gesture by a medical professional, I certainly did. The speech pathologist, seeing that I had witnessed this, kindly tried to diffuse the awkward situation by offering a tip on how to get my son to drink from a cup. It's a shame Dr. Jones chose to display her disapproval of my son and of my parenting in such an unprofessional manner. This was totally uncalled for especially in an office that actually diagnosed children on the autism spectrum.
