Thank you all. I have an appointment with this Dr I will now cancel. My impressive via the communication I have received appears to be corroborated by others experiences. I am left questioning if she is even qualified in this field from what I have received back. It is a honest and serious concern.

Well I wish I would have read these reviews before seeing her. My experience today was quite similar to that of the many other negative reviews. I got the impression she was above my little issue, that she prefers to deal with the more serious brain- or disease-related stuff, and not be bothered with small or injury type stuff. After 4 months waiting for the appt, she gave me 10 mins of time, and the whole experience left me feeling dismissed and uncomfortable. She really couldn't care less. There was also a dispresptecful component: she implied it was in my head, said it was anxiety, to quit worrying about it and finally, to live with it, but keep being healthy (was that patronising?). She told me a lot of my problem wasn't her field. She said she saw no reason to do any testing. It was a complete waste of my time. She charged me $300 for this visit and cost me 2 hours of driving and having to leave work early. And I'm back to square one.

The worst features of Dr Lamont's private practice, as a whole, are abysmal communication styles and perpetual waits of more than six months for appointments, for no reason other than Dr Lamont's practice only operating one or two days a week. It seems to be pointless to call the practice with enquiries about test results, follow up appointments etc, because they do not even ring back to even say "no news at present", let alone "I will call you in x weeks' time" etc.

One to one, Dr Lamont's people skills are also poor at best. I got the distinct impression that Dr Lamont is far more comfortable dealing with kids; that's fair enough – a reasonable prerogative, and it's why we have paediatricians. But it's no excuse to inflict stereotypical, arrogant "specialist" behaviour towards adult patients – whom Dr Lamont has chosen to treat. With adult patients, this personal preference seems to manifest as a cold, verging on cynical attitude; poor listening skills and a triage-like dismissiveness regarding very real symptoms, well before the relevant pathology testing has been done. With regard to relevant medical knowledge, Dr Lamont did admit to not being an expert on the specific issue, and a little humility goes a long way with me ... but, nevertheless, made an assertion about that issue, which I later checked with another doctor and medical literature, which tended to suggest that the assertion was dubious, and possibly even incorrect.

On the whole, it has been a depressing set of experiences. Had I known in advance, I would rather have had the out of pocket expenses involved in seeing a specialist interstate.

Dear Doctor
i was assecced by you on the 31 August 20 at 2 pm at your clinic at Royal Perth hospital. When you saw me, you said that i do not have FSHD even though i showed you my tests from NSW saying that i am positive for FSHD.

You asked me to do a genetic test to clarify if i am positive or not. Reason you gave me was, that when me and my family in Sydney did our tests, a lot of tests where wrong. You also told me how WA is the leading place in Australia for FSHD research.
This i information i passed on the my positive family in Sydney and since last August i am still waiting to hear from you if i am or not carrying FSHD !!!!.

I called your clinic in Subiaco several times to find out my results but your clinic have no answers since you saw me at RPH.

I called on two occasions RPH clinic and they also have no answer for me since their excuse is that there are lots of Covid tests to do!!!!! This , i do not believe since our Covid issues in WA has been near zero.

Can you please just get in touch with me, all i’m asking for you to give me the result, am positive or not. When i get you result, i will then let my family in Sydney know if they need to be retested.

I am not asking for the unreasonable !! I am entitled to hear from you especially that now it is almost a year since i saw you and also that you caused me the doubt re having or not having FSHD.

Dr Lamont was the first specialist that finally diagnosed my son's condition at the age of 33 as spastic paraparesis after numerous specialist just dismissed it as week muscles. Some even wanted to cut his tendons to rectify his awkward gait. She arranged several tests to ensure the correctness of her diagnosis. I would definitely recommend her.

I have waited 3 months to get an appointment for my daughter, after the initial contact with Dr Lamont’s rooms I have emailed them twice and rung 4 times still no appointment or reason for not getting one. Maybe she has retired and not told anyone! Poor professional conduct.
