I saw him about 5 years ago specifically for a skin cancer check because high degree of skin cancer in my family history. I asked specifically about a red patch on my face that had been there a few years at that time. He glanced at it, said it's keratosis, and said, "no need to worry." He did not tell me that, while not skin cancer, areas of keratosis have a high risk of turning into skin cancer. He didn't tell me to have it checked periodically. He said "not cancer." He took no biopsy but maybe just by quickly eying it at that time, MAYBE, he could tell if it really was non-cancerous then. MAYBE his diagnosis was correct.
But the doc I have now says that my squamous cell carcinoma is both wide-spread and SLOW-spreading. So might have been there 5 years ago.
At any rate, Dr. Lawlor definitely shouldn't have told me "not to worry." He SHOULD have told me to watch it carefully. But he didn't. So I now have a big prominent scar on my face. You can do better than seeing Dr. Lawlor for skin cancer diagnosis.

I have now been treated by Dr. Lawlor for 9 years for my skin cancer. After being misdiagnosed in 2002 by another dermatologist, was told that I had Psoriasis but in fact I had skin cancer. I was treated for the incorrect diagnosis for many years before I knew what it really was which lead to many spots and tumors. On my fist apointment, Dr Lawlor confirmed just by looking that I did not have psoiasis and that it was skin cancer and confirmed this positive later with a biopsy. I trust Dr. Lawlor completely,he has an excellent bedside manner, super helpful, very friendly, informative, thorough and knowledgeable. He is smart, fun, energetic, enthusiastic - makes you feel comfortable and lets you ask questions instead of just rushing you off. He is great at giving you a treatment plan and making his patients feel as though they are in it together, rather than just outlining a list of things the patient should do. I highly reccommend Dr. Lawlor.

I have been everywhere. UW, Everett clinic, Swedish, Virgina Maison, and no Dr. could figure out what was going on and most made it worst. One time seeing me and "presto" it was cured.
