Dr. Richard Serano helped me get my life back. I have been ill over 10 years no one could figure it out. I had been to several doctors. They said I had Fibromyalgia. When they dont know whats wrong, this is a diagnosis you receive. I had a binder full of information when I went to visit him. He was the first Doctor to LISTEN and REVIEW the info I collected. He spent the time needed to do this. It was a long appointment. Thank God he did! He cares about his patients and will give them the time they need. You will will not be shoved out the door in 15 minutes here. He ran many blood tests to figure our what was wrong. Most doctors don't even run the correct blood tests to find out whats wrong. Dr. Thomas Bresley is also Amazing! They figured out my situation. I am know on medicine that truly helps me. I was so ill. I am only 45. I know feel like I'm not getting left behind in my life. I can't say enough about them. He is my Dr. House ( from the old TV show) If you wait in the waiting room. Just know he will give you the same time. He's helping people! He will help you too! He's worth the wait!

I went in for a chronic migraine evaluation and walked out with orders for a bunch of blood tests to find the Lyme and celiac disease I must have, as well as other conditions causing my migraines. When I mentioned this to my primary care doc, he immediately said "Serano" , I am glad I asked for a second opinion and found a neuro without the scare tactics. To top it all off, the wait times are horrendous, and the staff is not the friendliest.

My finding Dr. Serano and his staff has been an answer to my prayers, and an incredible blessing!
I have been to 4 or 5 different neurologists, only to be told that they didn't know how to help me. It was ONLY Dr. Serano who took the time to find the cause of my seizure like movements, and in doing so many other health problems. I feel that Dr. Serano and his staff helped save my life and give me new hope for a future!
Dr. Serano is a highly sought after neurologist who is very caring and is only one man trying to do the work of many, in helping all of his patients. All you have to do is listen in his waiting room to know all of the lives Dr. Serano and his staff have changed for the better!!! God Bless them all!!!

My experience with this "doctor" was in Cape Fear Valley Hospital. After 4 days of waiting for him to show up after an order was given for a neurological consult, he finally showed up at 12 am to do his "assessment". Not only was he extremely rude to me, he was extremely rude and unprofessional with the 14 year old patient he had been called there to see. After a week of standing by this child's bedside, observing her body stiffen up uncontrollably, drool all over herself, try to claw at her face and belly, this "doctor" decides just because his eeg doesn't show evidence of it, that she is not having a seizure, just a panic attack. This child could not respond to anything for a good hour after these episodes occur. When she did open her eyes, it took her another good 15-20 minutes to be able to speak and even know what her full name was and where she was at. This "doctor" was given a very detailed description of these episodes. Three nurses at the time would come in every time it happened and witnessed everything I have described. But because he hasn't seen it, and his eeg doesn't show it, it's not real. My advice to anyone referred to see this doctor is to refuse.

Fee is not the problem. Being seen on time is. Plan on waiting 2 or more hours from your original scheduled appoint time. It has happened to me every single appointment I have had. About any diagnosis, very slow in coming, lots of high dollar tests but no answers as to what may be cause or source of my problems. Calling to get a prescription refill, or to just ask about my own tests results or condition of my health appears to bother the staff. I have called with genuine concerns, they would hang up on me when my caller ID came up because I guess I was a big bother. Tests appointments and referrals, I have had to call several times to get details on both upcoming tests and referral appointments. There is a term used and that is "falling through the crack" and that appears to be the norm for me since my first appointment 2-1/2 months ago. I am not please with the office functions or staff, there doesn't seem to be since of urgency that I have personally experienced so far.

Many years ago...1995 I was experiencing severe cluster headaches and was at the end of my rope! These daily very severe headaches were about to kill me! During this time I was able to see Dr. Serano and he was able to give me a couple of headache free days through the use of acupuncture. I realize this doesn't seem like much but to me I feel like it saved my life! Thank You Dr. Serano.....MANY years later I still remember what you did for me.
