I visited Dr. Savoca about possible surgery two years ago. While he wanted to do some follow ups, I never heard from his staff. They did reach out to make sure they had the info to bill me!

I recently needed to see him and after two months, I was informed he no longer handled my type of case. When I asked why I wasn't informed of this two months ago, they had no answer.

Dr. Savoca's resentment of patients is only surpassed by his staff's at office and surgery center. He sold me on a surgery for which he provided no pre-op information and proposed painful and unhelpful prep. He then left me, in pain and pressure from prep, for 2 hours after planned operation time. he explained, when I let him know of my discomfort and concern, that, "it is what it is." This was complemented by one of his surgical nurses stating to me that I was "not special" when noting my discomfort with the pending surgery. Post-op, while heavily drugged, I received scant post-op advice, which was actually counter to my health due to my condition, from yet another angry and rude nurse who rushed me out as it was closing time (due to my 2 hour delay). Dr. Savoca, when called to submit my prescription, was hostile to my wife. While there were occasional efforts to provide me with more advice after surgery, it was always followed by failed promises to follow up and annoyance when I reached out again. The final interface was at my follow up appointment, at which time I was, without notice, told I would have another procedure that day. When I declined to sign acceptance of that procedure until talking to the doctor, the nurse stormed off, leaving me for another 30 minutes alone without information. I am left with new pain and discomfort, little relief from the original condition, and a refusal by his office to provide my records to another doctor.

After years of getting the run-around, I am happy to say Dr. Savoca is helping me get my life back. I had previously been a long-standing patient at Fairfax Colorectal--where Dr. Stern misdiagnosed me and completely missed spotting my main problem--but Dr. Savoca identified it immediately.

He's a very down-to-earth, honest, transparent guy, and most importantly, he made me feel comfortable during an extremely uncomfortable situation. That really resonated with me.
My biggest regret was not connecting with Dr. Savoca sooner. But at least I now have my life back and am recovered, thanks to him. He performed a colonoscopy and found a hemorrhoid as well as a fissure. In just two sessions he healed both.

Don't waste your time looking elsewhere: Dr. Savoca has the answers to even the most complex or challenging problems.

Way overbooked in office. Waiting time is ridiculous and 3 couples with the same appointment time is ridiculous. Nurse is excellent--receptionis--so so. Dr. needs to have office visits separate from hospital visits!

Dr. Savoca is very professional. He has been very up front from the beginning about my surgery. He also has taken ever precaution necessary to make sure I heal correctly. Although I had a set back non related to the surgery itself, he kept right with me and has done a terrific job. I will undergo a second surgery soon, and am hopeful all will go smoothly.

Run, doctor becomes irate if questioned on findings after surgery. This surgeon threatened additional surgery as a response for questioning him while patient was still in the hospital.

Had a polyp removed and no one called for over a week to tell me results. I finally had to call only to be told I had aggressive colorectal cancer. The staff then told me I could come in to talk to the doctor in 3 weeks. Uh, what part of “aggressive cancer” did she not understand? When met with the doctor, he tried to scare me into barbaric surgery when found out later this surgery can be performed sparingly (no colostomy needed) and laproscopically. OK for routine colonoscopy, but run the other way if you are diagnosed with anything serious. And know up front the staff on the phones/front desk are rude, rude, rude. Also waited for 1.5 hours in waiting room for follow-up appt. - the colonoscopy was punctual.

Beware of his administrative staff who collect sizable fees and are not very nice, either. That was the case with me, anyway, for my first colonoscopy, which was supposed to have been preventative in nature therefore covered by my insurance in full. And when challenged after the fact, the curtness and rudeness of a couple of the females really left a negative impression. If it was not for the fact that Dr. Savoca, himself, was and is worth his weight in gold, along with his medical staff, I would have gone elsewhere for my follow-up colonoscopy. The second colonoscopy resulted in none of the charges I was previously told I had to pay. Don't quite understand why the same charges did not apply unless changes in the admin staff were made. At any rate, both procedures went off without a hitch and Dr. Savoca could not have been more pleasant and reassuring. He is quite knowledgable and worth the headache his admin staff people imposed.
