As a parent of a child with a “rare” illness you live your life walking on egg shells. Prof Zacharin reassures us and goes out of her way to explain and correctly medicate my child. I would highly recommend her.

Was given a referral by my GP took Dr. Margaret Zacharin, which I gave to the practise when I booked the appointment. Booked an appointment two months away, which wasn't ideal (however she came highly regarded by my GP). Was given a call a couple of days before to be told, she didn't see patients with my condition. I wish I could have been told this when I made the appointment and provided my referral two months earlier. Why don't her staff to know to look at referrals when they receive them

Margaret has been in my life since I was 2 years old. That’s two whole decades and this woman might not always be that as the person below me said ‘warm and fuzzy’ doctor you WANT to have, but she honestly Will 100% do what she thinks is best for the situation. I’ve always had a special bond with her. She’s always had my best interest at heart and has always been upfront and honest EVEN if it’s extremely brutal. She won’t sugar coat things, she will let you know if things aren’t good. To others reading the reviews below, PLEASE Don’t be discouraged by the first few years of treatment. If I could see her as an adult I would however my team now are in contact with her and still go to her for advice with my health. She’s 100% worth the upfront honesty she brings and is one of my favourite doctors. She’s inspired me so much in my lifetime.

Normally not the type to rate people but because a few people have felt she is rude and abrupt I feel the need to give my experience of two decades. (One complains she can’t remember a patients name, She sees thousands of patients a year, have you ever forgotten a name?)

I think you’ll either love or dislike her, depending on if you like a doctor who is straight to the point or not.
At the end of the day If it wasn’t for her I would not know where I would be right now.
For me she’s always been fantastic. Also once you get to know her more she has some very interesting stories.
Also, if you feel she’s going to hard I don’t think she’d mind if you told her how you felt. At the end of the day she loves lives and breathes her job. Her whole heart is into giving the children she sees the best quality of life possible, please don’t be so quick to judge and just remember doctors are human too. 🥰

I agree that she may not be warm and fuzzy, but through our dealings with her, I’ve found her knowledge to be unsurpassed. She connected what I thought were disparate symptoms and sees the wider picture. She has always been on our side and supportive of us when other doctors either fobbed us off or refused to do further testing. She has also answered emails and messages promptly. So, as long as you are willing to work with someone who is direct and tells it like it is, then she is your doctor. PS her staff are absolutely amazing and so helpful.

Margaret met my child at a diabetes camp where she was acting as a medical consultant. At the dnd of each camp parents, children and medicos have a brief recap of medical issues and suggested follow up management Margaret was rude, abrupt, belittled our child and criticised our child’s paediatrician. She never once referred to him by name even though she had his Hart’s in front of her. We were’t greeted but barked st to ‘sit down ‘Then she pushed for us to change doctor to her. I’m not interested in how ‘knowledgeable a practitioner is. There are many excellent endocrinologists and paediatricians to choose from in Melbourne so why would we even gbink of changing to a knowledgeable doctor who lacks empathy with their young and vulnerable patients?

Margaret has been seeing my daughter for 20 years. Her manner can come across as abrupt but I would never call her rude or belittling. She is direct and to the point. When we don’t understand she will always take the time to explain. Yes, initially we both found her a little intimidating - Maidie used to call her ‘the scary doctor’ but as she became more familiar she has become a trusted ‘friend’ in a sea of sometimes confusing medical issues. She is always supportive and caring. She is passionate about her area of medical practice.

Margaret Zacharin has been seeing our baby at the RCH since only a few days old. However, she cannot remember his name and needs reminding of her previous advice at the start of every appointment. She snaps down any questions we have and belittles our opinions. My husband and I leave appointments feeling frustrated with our questions unanswered and our concerns unaddressed. She may be knowledgeable (who isn’t at her age?!) but is very rude and has a glib attitude. At our last appointment she said we needed to see her in her private rooms from now on, instead of at the RCH- fishing private customers out of the hospital system seems immoral to me. We will be looking for a new Endo with good bedside manner, good morals and good knowledge. Don’t waste your family’s time with Margaret Zacharin.

Dr. Zacharin is an wonderful doctor who is tremendously knowledgable, thorough, efficient and caring. She immediately put my daughter at ease with her kind manner and directed their conversation in a very professional but caring manner. She is "matter of fact" but took the time to ensure our daughter felt at ease and safe at all times. My husband and I truly feel very lucky that our daughter had Dr Zacharin.

Saw her several times for my graves..told i needed RAI and that i could eat all sushi i liked after that. Very short and to the point which i dont mind but never told me any specific information about the procedures, risks, long term effects or that it doesnt actually cure this illness. For having paid quote alot of money to see her found her a waste of my time and money...a specialist is supposed to tell you the specifics and details but she did neither. Not sure why the reviews are so great for her
