I am sure he was good in his day, but this man needs to be checked over by his colleagues to make sure he is still fit to practice. He seems so full of his own self importance that I don't think he even notices the patient before him. I don't mean to suggest that he doesn't know what he's doing on a technical level. I have no doubt that he is wonderful when it comes to administering ECT. He did do wonders for my wife when she was suicidal. That was a long time ago, and when she went back recently - thinking she was getting very depressed again - we both felt that Tiller had aged a lot, and that's not a crime because it happens to us all. But when you have the kind of power that Professor Tiller has over the lives of others, you cannot continue working as a much older man unless you know for sure that you are 100 percent on the ball. I would say that Tiller looks as if he is in his 70s, so maybe he should stay on the research side of his profession and leave dealing with patients to younger colleagues. He didn't seem to show my wife any care whatsoever. it was horrible to watch. He seemed to just want to get on with the business of organising times etc... like a business man who really wanted to be somewhere else

i am sure Professor Tiller was probably a good doctor at some stage; otherwise he wouldn't have the reputation he has garnered over the years. However, it is my opinion - and I could be wrong - that Professor Tiller is more concerned with his ego than he is with his patients. He makes rash and dangerous decisions, and this is based on personal experience which I won't go into. I would simply urge others to be careful and to ask a lot of questions.

If you want a doctor that speaks at you and not to you, this one is for you. It was a nightmare being under this doctor. Will not speak to the patient, their carer or their doctors but goes off and does his own thing. I had my old meds discontinued due to serious health concerns while on them and he, without asking, put me back on them and also increased a med to double the recommended maximum dose, a med that was making me sicker and I was meant to be weaned off it. Thank you for wasting my time and energy and leaving me with no faith in psychiatrists. I am off the horrible med with all the side effects and luckily I am improving. Never want to see this rude man again

Prof Tiller is excellent. He is straight forward and put me on medication that has essentially saved me from myself. He follows up with me and always gives amazing advice. He has beautiful examples of how the mind works. He made my day by telling me a story of a musician who made a mistake and how it applied to him. His receptionist is amazing also.

Really good. He gets straight to the point and doesn't waste time or words. Very happy with him and you just can't beat his experience. I can't quite work out why other patients have canned him here as they have. He knows what he's doing, so let him do it.

He was v good for brief and specific treatment over a few months. Hence my rating. However, unsure whether I could tolerate his style as a long term patient.

Knows his stuff definitely, but only effective if he actually takes the time to listen to one, including ones history etc, which he did with me. (Was reluctant to see him due to his reputation as sometimes harsh) I felt he respected me and we developed a great therapeutic relationship.

‘Pharmacologically informed” (below review) ? It was intact medications that left me with semi-permanent side effects and contemplations of taking action!

John is highly intelligent and knowledgeable. He's efficient, and I don't need a doctor to hold my hand; rather one who is pharmacologically informed.
