If she is assigned to you in ER, demand another doctor

Dr. Dafoe treated me for a bad knee injury on Boxing Day. The ER was horribly busy and I was stunned by Dr. Dafoe’ s kindness, caring and compassion. Even though she was run off of her feet, from the moment she came in to the room, her attention was solely on me. She was so genuine and explained things and immediately made my comfort a priority. I was immediately put on an IV for pain control. She ordered tests and a splint and immediately ordered an urgent MRI, which otherwise would’ve taken me months to get. I was able to have it within a week. She sent me for a CAT scan, she made referrals for me to an ortho specialist. I was concerned about my work, and she wrote me a note. I just never encountered that kind of attention and an emergency room. She made me feel , so much better when I was in agonizing pain. Truly, the kindest woman and very knowledgeable. She had me come back in a week to have the MRI and see her again for results. I just can’t say enough about what a great doctor and human being she is. It is terrible to have to wait such a long time when you are sick in emergency. But at least when you are seen, and the doctor treats, you like this, it all seems worthwhile. I felt blessed to have her take care of me.

Dr. Dafoe was my doctor in the ER, and she previously was my family doctor. She helped me with my broken leg, and realigned it.

I came into the ER with a head wound. She was kind and courteous and put me at ease straight away. Excellent bed side manor and very informative - would ask for her again.

Saw Dr. Dafoe in emerg for back pain and she knew suspected right away it was my gall bladder - she was spot on. Very pleasant to deal with, two days later I am in emerg with my son and she recognizes me and double checks on me.

This dr was my favorite, all of the bad comments I am reading about her sound like they are written by uneducated people. All of you are lucky to be healthy. She sees people with real problems daily, and helps them through it, and saves them. If you go into the hospital being a j*rk about your tiny problems you can solve by yourself; don't expect to be treated like a princess! Joan is an amazing person and a hero.

Before giving up her private practice several years ago, this woman took me on as a new patient. In
an effort to "reboot" my system, she prescribed a cocktail of drugs which rendered me completely useless. If I wasn't using the loo or eating (rather, overeating due to meds), I was sleeping ... all day/all night. Shortly after giving me these meds, she informed me that I would have to find another doctor as she was quitting her practice to go to E.R. With that, she stood up and walked out indicating that I should speak with receptionist on my way out regarding possible new doc, leaving me in the care of NO ONE to monitor me/new meds and no recommendation for talk therapy. She was cold and had no concern for my mental state which was extremely fragile at that time. I would NOT recommend this woman for a manicure let alone for making any medical decisions about myself or a loved one. She left me high and dry with no follow-up. 👎

I went to Ross after a serious accident and got Dafoe. I fell 16' from a roof..... she said nothing was wrong with me and I was lucky. I literally crawled out of Ross and not so much as an aspirin. I was in so much pain..... and guess why ? I finally went to a Toronto hospital and I crushed my T12 verte
brae and fractured my L1 vertebrae. I

I will never be the same thanks to this woman.
