Dr. Lavu was very thorough during my initial visit with him which made me feel confident that I found the right doctor to figure out what exactly was going on with me since I had a very generic list of symptoms. He asked me several questions and gave me plenty of time to explain my symptoms. I never felt rushed or like I was a burden to him. I felt that he had genuine concern about my well being and narrowing down a diagnosis.

Worst doctor I have ever been to out of hundreds. Terrible personality and condescending tone. Rushed into room and rushed out. He would ask a question and I'd get two words in and he would interrupt before I could finish even a complete sentence. He didn't appear to listen at all and totally uncompassionate. I have been to some doctors who like to get to the point but this was first time I was so uncomfortable I wanted to walk out within the first minute. At end of appointment he said, "Is there anything else?" like he was being bothered and he left the room. He didn't say the nurse would be in or anything else. I had to assume I was to leave the room and check out. I am embarrased my family doctor referred me to this gastro doctor.

This doctor used an invasive procedure when a non invasive procedure used beforehand would have prevented me from having some seventeen (that's right) abdominal sirgeries and losing 45% of my Pancreas, my transverse colon, Gall bladder and Spleen. I spent five months in a coma in SICU. I had reconstructive surgery at UMC on May 25, 2005;was dis'c home w/homecare 3x per wk. Developed a grastic fistula 08/19/05, returned to VA for treatment; three months of NPO. D'c home on 12/07/2005. This was seven days less than three (3) years since Dr. Lavu preformed an ERCP procedure on me thereby starting my odyssy in Hell. My brushes with death were continual and my recoveries earned me the nickname "Miracle Man". The VA has so far refused me any compensation for this travesty of medicine saying that this is a known outcome. Well, so is DEATH, but they never mentioned that either. If only they had! Dr. Lavu had Residents assisting him which is not even allowed at such places as Duke Univ. Med.
