He is an excellent, caring psychiatrist who asks good questions, seek to understand all the symptoms and believes in more than just medication. Listens to the patient and wants the very best for his patients. Medication is his expertise, but I always get reminded to add exercise, sleep, healthy eating, activity and counseling.

Is that there does like to encourage people however this doctor also likes to add meds a lot. He also fails to keep notes on the patients reactions to the meds. This valley or creates large problems in the future when the patient needs to cycle through meds that are necessary for a problem going on in life. I may have cased very adverse reaction such as sleep walking, smoking and burning things in their sleep ( which could have burnt the hous down ultimately)... and then re- prescribeded the med . And when asked by pt. For a change the dr refused even after being notified of all the above was reported to him by Katie his intake staff. He may have been called by the director and I will hear whether he chooses to drop me or chance it. Nightmare ! Definitely not the first second or third time!

Dr. Schroeder is everything you could ask for in a psychiatrist. He spends the time to get to know each patient, and you can tell he genuinely wants to help you get better. He doesn't just throw a prescription at you and say "See you in a couple months", but helps you work out a plan for how to get better. I can tell that when he changes medication, like adding something new or upping the dose, it's not because some salesman brought him a nice dinner. He won't give a prescription unless he really believes that it's for the best, and you can see that when he thinks about how to proceed.

I know a lot of people have to go from doctor to doctor finding one that they "click" with, which just adds to the stress. I feel very lucky that I can truthfully say that I look forward to seeing Dr. Schroeder every month or two, which probably isn't something many people can say about their psychiatrist.

Yes, sometimes he's a little bit behind, but that's something to be expected. I don't know how psychiatrists schedule their days, but I'd imagine they have slots between prescheduled patients for emergencies. In all honesty, if someone feels they need an emergency appointment with their psychiatrist, they often should be the priority.

Dr. Schroeder has changed, and quite possibly saved, my life. I would recommend him to absolutely anybody who is deciding to reach out for help with mental health.

Dr. Schroeder is great. He is very thorough--not just interested in filling out a prescription. He asks me if I am exercising, sleeping alright, all the questions that indicate presence of depression. He even has given me advice and feedback on non-psychiatric topics. It is like talking to a friend.
