Dr Steinbook is an absolutely amazing doctor with an awesome bedside manner. He is very open, honest, and blunt but treats his patients with respect and dignity. He takes time to answer questions, encourage you, and talk to you about your symptoms.

The doctor maybe great, but his office manager is NOT!!!!-I have already reported them to the medical board. PLEASE read this so it doe not happen to you too!
APPOINTMENT DAY !!!!– Wednesday, April 19, 2017 @ 12:00 c.s.t. I arrive at my appointment. I had to fill out other paperwork and pay the co-pay. The office manager came to the front desk after I had been waiting for about 20 minutes and said that she would have to speak with Dr. Steinbook about seeing me. I waited another 20 minutes.

The office manager called me to the hallway and told me that Dr. Steinbook was NOT going to see me because I had seen another Gastro doctor and “chose not” to see them back in July 2016. That I never told them that I had seen another doctor. I explained that I did what the hospital discharge instructions had said to do, explained to her the multiple conversations that I had had with the young lady of their office, I explained about the fax that I had sent back on March 20th, I explained what I was having to do and what I am going through and also that even with 2 kids home with the flu I still kept the appointment with their office. She coldly stated. “That’s not my problem” and “AGAIN, not my problem” after EVERYTHING I said. I really cannot stress enough how cold that woman was to me. She didn’t care at all that I was standing there right in front of her holding my stomach in severe pain. I KEPT asking her, “What I‘m I suppose to do?” She didn’t care! I asked her, “Am I just to go home and wait to die from malnutrition (I can ONLY eat rice and oatmeal now, if that) or wait for the autopsy to tell my family what was wrong with me?” She AGAIN said, “That’s not my problem” She told me that I should go to the hospital IF I was in SO MUCH pain!” I told her that I had spoken with the ER and they had told me to “make sure that I KEPT this appointment. She STILL didn’t care.

I asked her to speak with Dr. Steinbook and she said, “NO, YOU CANNOT! That’s what he pays ME for!” At that time, even though I had not even raised my voice and she had not even asked me to leave. In fact, she NEVER asked me to leave. She told the young lady behind the counter to call 911 on me. At that point I was BEGGING her to see me I told her that I was very so so sorry that I saw another doctor. I did everything but get on my knees for her to agree to see me and I would have been on my knees if my stomach wasn’t hurting so bad at that point, but she just kept telling and asking the lady behind the counter “will you go ahead and call 911”. The ONLY reason that 911 didn’t get called is because the young lady behind the counter didn’t know how to call 911. She was asking “Do I dial 9 first then the 911?” That’s the only reason the police didn’t show up. She didn’t know how to use the phone. I had done NOTHING but BEG! Now I have no one to see me. She had the nerve to tell me that “That’s not my problem, it’s yours” multiple times. The whole while my stomach was cramping so severely that I was vomiting in the parking lot after I left and all night long after that. She did care at all about me! She said that I “should have kept the appointment from the hospital. I told her that I didn’t even know that I HAD an appointment. NOTHING mattered to her. She had also asked me what type of insurance I have. I told her Medicaid, she says “mediCAID?!” I told her “yes” I still do not know what that had to do with anything.

This can’t be the way that people of the medical profession work. Can it? What ever happen to “do no harm”? They did me GREAT harm by not seeing me! Just because it’s “their policy” not to see anyone that has seen another physician before. I even asked her, “If I have never been in this office, HOW am I supposed to KNOW your policy?” She said, That’s not my problem”. You mean to tell me that there are NO OTHER persons that are patients of theirs that HAS NEVER seen another doctor? I left their office vomiting, crying and begging. She didn’t care. I think that the lady behind the desk cared, but she didn’t open her mouth to defend me in any way. None of them did and there was at lease 4 more standing there not to mention that there were other people around the counter the WHOLE time this lady was telling me all of this. One lady said to her I guess daughter and the lady at the desk, “Why don’t she just let her be seen? She’s in pain.”. They simply DID NOT CARE about me at all!

From the front desk to scheduling procedures to the doctor's visit, incredible compassion and understanding every appointment and every phone call. Dr. Steinbook takes as much time as needed and then some to make sure he is making an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. No question is left unanswered and no procedure left unexplained. If only he could be my primary care physician as well, I would never worry about my health care!

I've never been around a Doctor that cares about you as a whole as much as Dr. Steinbook does. He treats the whole person not just what you have needed to see him about. He believe that it takes the whole person to get ill, but the whole person to get well. He and his staff are as concerned about you, as your illness and will keep digging until he finds out what the problem is then treat the problem as well as making sure you are kept completely informed the entire process. Never leaving you as if you don't know what the procedures, are and what the hopefull or expected out come of each is.

Dr. Steinbook is a great physician. He cared for me as a patient and an individual. In reference to the above comments: He will not cut you and leave you with no help! I had several procedures performed by Dr. Steinbook approximately 5 years ago and was sedated during one. I am great and he was able to diagnose and treat my symptoms for which I was referred to him. His staff is great and they have been with him for many years. He treats his employees and patients with the upmost care. He is one of very few doctors who seems to be in practice for the right reason......he cares.
