I first utilized Dr. Elkins in 2006. I also used him in 2007. Both appointments were for eye exams (contact and glasses). I must admit, I was impressed with Dr. Elkins and his staff (more so in 2006, than 2007). When I called earlier this week to set an appointment, I was shocked to be met with incredible rudeness from Elkin's staff. I spoke to three different office workers -- all three demonstrated shocking arrogance, combined with incompetence. Firstly, they confused my record for another patient with the same name -- despite the fact that I specified my birthdate. The billing clerk (whose name I do not recall) provided me with information that was incorrect. Further, she was on the verge of yelling. When I call a second time, the other office worker was also rude. Nonetheless, Elkin's prices have increased dramatically. I was impressed in 2006 and 2007! But no so much in 2008. Thus, I must bid farewell to Dr. Elkins and his office. And hello to my new doctor!

Dr. Elkins is a bit on the arrogant side and is very cavalier about taking risks. I find him somewhat cold and aloof or even moody at times. He often gets perturbed if you ask too many questions and does not answer them thoroughly or accurately. His examinations are not at all as comprehensive as other doctors Ive visited and his patient record entries are extremely sparse. I find him a poor diagnostician compared to other doctors whove examined me and he does not seem to like to reveal his findings during his exams. Likewise, his staff seems to be somewhat secretive and do not volunteer information during an exam. He does not explain side-effects and alternative treatments thoroughly. I have not been helped much at all by this doctor. His somehwat condescending demeanor and inadequate responses to questions invoke feelings of distrust.
