Dr. Elkins and his office staff have always been very professional and thorough, with an emphasis on thorough! They never overlook anything. I'm 72 and my husband is 75 and we both got restor implant surgery with Dr. Elkins. It took a period of a couple of years, but it was very well worth it. He's wonderful and I would recommend him to anyone who has any kind of eye problems.

I have been a patient of Dr. Elkins for over 5 years. I'm a professional in health services management field, with a speciality in quality of care, and I can absolutely say that Dr. Elkins and his colleagues represent the epitome of what anyone would want in a doctor. He is not only experience, well trained, and technically competent, but his personal style is warm and friendly and open. You couldn't have a better combination. Plus, unlike other doctor's offices I have been to, the office is extremely well run. Everyone one is support positions are timely, and thorough. You can't do better than that!

I took my cousin to see Brad Elkins and our experience was far from satisfying. We were treated rudely by the staff and my cousin’s exam was rushed and issues were left unresolved or unexplained. I know others who left the practice of Elkins in frustration, including one who is a healthcare professional who knows about good bedside manner and medical integrity. Despite the apparent repeated rants of some posters, most negative posts that I have read are consistent with our own unpleasant experience and are not without merit. I do not mind those who have had positive outcomes posting their OWN positive reviews, but one has to wonder why Brad Elkins finds it necessary to hire a Carlsbad-based firm (Review Boost) to artificially boost his ratings by spamming the Internet with postings on numerous web sites (most of which are posted repeatedly under various false account names). If Dr. Elkins is so perfect, honest, and secure about his reputation, why is he engaging in such deception?

During exams, Elkins delegates most of the testing and screening to subordinates who could not or would not answer my questions. Much happier with my new doctor who performs most of his own diagnostics, including refraction, and routinely conducts tests that Elkins would not even include in his exams, such as those for color blindness, stereoscopic vision, and a real visual field exam (not just waving fingers in the air). And, yes, Elkins does have a bit of attitude.

I am a huge fan of Dr. Brad Elkins. He changed my life. I had glaucoma surgery in both eyes, one in 2/09 and the other in 3/09. The surgery entailed the completed removal of the natural lenses in both eyes, which were replaced with artificial lenses that included vision correction. I had worn glasses my entire life mainly due to severe astigmatism is both eyes (you know, coke bottle glasses kind of guy). Dr. Elkins told me he could correct much of the problem, but not all of it, but miracles do happen. The surgeries were painless and more than 100% successful. I could see better the very next day after the procedures. But most amasing was the fact that my vision was corrected to 20/20, and I no longer have to wear glasses for driving, golfing, watching TV, etc. I can see a golfball over 300 yards away! Like I said, its a miracle! Dr. Elkins was kind, compassionate, friendly, & very professional. IN MY BOOK HE IS THE GREATEST!

I had a great experience with Dr. Elkins and have since referred him to a friend. I had LASIK surgery with him and have perfect vision with no complaints. He was a great listener and I feel that my procedure from first appointment to follow up's has been nothing but smooth sailing!

"Compassionate" and "wonderful?" You must be joking! Not only is Elkins the most uncompassionate doctor I've visited, but also the most argumentative and unethical. I found him abrupt and abrasive. He belittled my concerns about his prescribed treatment, exploited my fears, and never explained the possible dangerous and lasting side effects that could result. I finally went to UCLA where the issue was quickly and safely resolved without the use of harmful steroids.

I had a great experience with Dr. Elkins. In fact, after paying my previous eye doctor to fit me with glasses for the past 30 years, Dr. Elkins told me that they were only magnifying lenses that I could have gotten over the counter! He did not have to say that. He could have made my buy them from him as well. That being said, it is a pleasure to go to a doctor that really cares about you as the patient and not just how much money he can make off of you. I will be seeing Dr. Elkins as my eye doctor for as long as he stays in business! I have also sent my two girls to see him and my husband will be going as well. In one visit he just gained a whole family of patients. Thanks Dr. Elkins! We really appreciate doctors like you!

Dr Elkins is an amazing doctor! I have been a patient of his for 8 years. He is completely thorough and professional during my visits. Once I had a late night emergency, he responded quickly and I was able to come in the office on a Sunday. Dedication! I have referred a lot of my friends to him.

Dr. Elkins helped me out greatly with a recurring eye issue. He empathized with my condition, provided a thorough examination and treatment that resolved my issue (it's been over a year now since resolved). It is easy to get appointments .... even when I needed to get in the same week. He is thorough during my eye examinations. The office staff is pleasant and punctual. He is a very likeable doctor and takes time to ask me how I am doing when I come in. I have recommended Dr. Elkins to friends and family.
