I went to Dr. Earl La Kier for over a year and about a month ago, I went in for an appointment and in middle of the appointment when I was discussing the various things going on, he actually said to me "I don't really have the time for all this now" .... I went home, came back 30 days later for a follow up. He hand wrote prescriptions for me. I inadvertantly lost / tore up the script with my mail that was sitting on the front seat of my car from that day. I called the dr's office and told them what happened. I asked for them to please call the pharmacy and verify that the scripts had never been filled and to void them out and issue new ones. They instructed me they would not do so. The Dr eventually got on the phone with me and told me yet again "He didn't have time to check the data base to see if the scripts had been filled or not" and therefore would not issue another one until my next visit. I asked to pick up my medical records, they said no, not unless you pay for them. I have paid for each and every visit and have literally never been sick but go in for routine bloodwork as the Doctor instructed and come in more often than someone under 40 should have to - and always did and always paid. I said I had paid for everything that those were my medical records and he said "no, they are not, they belong to this office". When I had bloodwork done no one ever even called with the results, I had to ask them what they were and remind them that was why I came in several weeks ago. Overall the staff is cold and callous and the Dr. La Kier - while meak and mild, is uncaring and lacks the necessary compassion to make you feel like you have an actual doctor that cares about your well being. For a family practitioner, I would look elsewhere, this office only wants your dollar and is practicing medicine for all the wrong reasons. In 37 years, I have never had a Doctor tell me they didn't have time for something - especially when I am paying so heavily for that time. I ended yelling and crying by the end of the various calls to his office today and am left feeling worse off then when I started with him. Clearly it is my fault that I put the hand written script on the front seat of my car and not in a better spot to where it would not be able to be co-mingled with various other paperwork that day - I am a busy business owner and that part is on me, but there was no resolution provided and more of a "too bad, so sad" attitude from everyone in the office, including Dr. La Kier himself.
