This is why I rate this Dermatology Business as a recommended “stay away”:
- Medical Protocol: I had 3 biopsies and they do not freeze/numb the area before they inserted the Novocain needle. This caused extreme pain during the injection. My previous Dermatologist always froze/numbed the area prior to inserting Novocain needle. Much more humane and very limited discomfort.
- You will probably see the PA. Dr. Beals only has part time office hours.
- PA set up a Dr Beals follow-up appointment to review the results and status of my 3 biopsies. During the appointment he shows up and stands in the doorway. No lab coat and not dressed in expected casual business attire. He was loud and argumentative. It was obvious he had not reviewed my chart. I finally asked him to look at two of my biopsies that had left cars at both locations. He basically shrugged it as it is what it is. I have had at least 2 biopsies at Coastal Skin Surgery and Dermatology and they never left a scar. Very unprofessional. Without a doubt, the worst medical office visit I have had in my life. Note: My wife attended my appointment and is a witness also.
- Another observation during my office appointments is the office staff does not appear very happy. Not a lot of smiles in the workplace.
- I realize now why it was so quick to get an appointment (the reason I originally tried Dr Beals office). I will be returning to Coastal Skin Surgery and Dermatology where I know I will get excellent professional care (even though there is a long wait time for an appointment).

I have been seeing Dr. Beals for several years since he moved his office to Niceville. I had previously making a yearly trip to Ft. Walton Beach. In all those years, he has been very friendly and competent. I feel he and his staff are a part of my family. My yearly visits have become quarterly because of my chemo therapy which has activated my skin cancers from my misspent youth on the beaches of Florida trying to see how dark I could get. Now at 80 years, that lifestyle has come back to haunt me. My treatment has been complicated by my being on blood thinners due to AFIB and I bleed very easy during surgery. His expertise at removing my skin lesions and closing the wounds has been phenomenal. I highly recommend Dr. Beals and his expert staff. They are the best!

I had a spot of Basel cell carcinoma on my nose. I was very nervous about the procedure but Dr. Beals, Susan his wife and the nurses that worked with me all helped make me feel more at ease and were as nice as could be. I would Highly recommend Dr. Beals and his staff!

My wife and I have been seeing Dr. Beals and his staff for several years and have been very pleased with their professionalism and service to the patient. Most recently I had a problem with my insurance getting the prescription filled. With the help of Glenda in Dr. Beals office, after several attempts was able to resolve all issues. Dr. Beals has a keeper, he needs to hold on to her. She's a professional and pleasant to talk with.
