Very Poor service in ER. Patient is Handicapped. When told they would give something for head pain (he also had severe chest pain) they were informed he COULD NOT swallow tablets ( could take chewable or liquid) Was told not to worry would give meds through the iv in his hand. Guess what they brought a half hour later!!! A big pill that he could not swallow and then they got upset at him because he could not take it. They finally deceided to crush it in applesauce, They said they could not put it back as they had already taken it out of the package. Then , come to find out they could do no heart tests (which he needed because of the pain) that night because the pill they had given him had caffine in it and would mess up any results of the heart tests. Who would give caffine to a potential heart patient? Keystone Kops all around!!!!!!

I would NEVER recommend this hospital, as I had an horrific experience there this past July. I was admitted into the hospital via ambulance due to an anxiety attack. Immediately when I arrived, I was treated like a psychiatric criminal. The room I was put in had no windows, a giant lock on the door and security cameras inside; it was terrifying. The nurse yelled at me profusely to stop crying, threatened to take my clothes off, and would not allow me privacy to change into the hospital gown. She then took away my purse and clothes, and I was not permitted to see my boyfriend, who had accompanied me in the ambulance. When I was finally allowed to see him, she wouldn't let me hold his hand while she took a blood sample, and forced my arm down to stick me. For hours I was treated as if I were a mental prisoner, until my father came and suddenly the service "improved." The service at this hospital is disgraceful, and after this experience, I don't feel safe going to a hospital anymore.

I have had such an outstanding experience with the Newton Medical Center. I have taken my mother to many care facilities in the past and have been thoroughly disappointed by the level of care given to her, but the Newton Medical Center has finally broken this trend! From the first time my mother and I walked through their doors, we felt welcome, safe, and cared for. The level of service is top notch from the receptionists to the doctors. I was included in making decisions about my mother’s care for the first time, which finally allowed me to advocate on her behalf about which medications she would be prescribed. The level of communication between myself and the various levels of hospital staff is unparalleled. For the first time, my mother and I truly feel like we are in control of her care. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Newton Medical Center to anyone searching for a care facility.
