Ratings for Dr. Edward J. Fox
DR FOX.... I was diagnosed a couple months before my 16th birthday..I am now 30!!! Dr Fox is an EXPECTACULAR doctor. People travel from all over to see him - and I do not blame them. I’ve been a bad patient, stubborn and he’s NEVER left me. I remember referring to him as my “SAVING GRACE” That whole staff is pretty much family. There was a time when I “ignored and didn’t treat” my MS. And still he was there open ears and open doors! LITERALLY will answer any and all questions patients have. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR FOX, not sure why I haven’t posted here before. But do yourself a favor GO to Fox, he will save you! His head is a book!!!!!
Dr Fox is rude doesn’t listen to you and his overall bedside manner is very poor
The entire time I have seen him or his PA, it felt as though they were in a rush to get me OUT of the office. He also only listened to half of what I said (reflected in the notes Dr Fox took and discussed with me).
Let's just say, he can have all the titles and accolades in the area of MS. He and his head nurse left me for dead in a surgery clinic after a routine day surgery. I had to get to a hospital myself, no call backs, or hospital visit, or call to an associate MD to come check on me. Dr's don't know everything and we patients have the RIGHT to shop around. I obviously fired him and found a neuro who had a much better bedside manner and returns calls personally if it's an emergency. I walked into day surgery under Dr. Edward J. Fox's care, and haven't heard from him or walked since. I did speak to his head nurse the next day and told her I couldn’t get up. Her reply was, “you have a follow-up appointment with Dr. Fox in a week”. I hung up the phone and called 911 and was transported immediately to a hospital in Austin. Buyer beware. An "expert" doesn't mean anything in treating a disease where there is no known cause or cure, but doing everything you can, especially when a patient crashes under your watch and recommendations speaks volumes. Shame!
Dr. Fox and his staff are wonderful. They are always fast and friendly. Dr. Fox answers all of my questions with detail... His office gets back to me that day if I call with a concern. He makes sure I have the best care possible and talks to me on a personal level, rather than just a patient/doctor level. His office is full of MS information and he is VERY involved with the MS community and it's research!
I thought Dr. Fox was execellent and worth the wait. He went over MRI results and Spinal tap results in depth and explained everything on a level that I could understand. He called me personally when I had questions.
I'm sure he is a fabulous researcher and knowledgeable about some parts of M.S., but patient care and relationships do not seem to be his emphasis or his forte. I found an other neuroligist and he told me dr. Fox waited too long to agree with me for a traitment that I did fight for.
My experience with Dr. Fox has been very unsatisfactory. He comes across as arrogant and disinterested, and often dismissive of my concerns. He has failed to explain parts of my condition and treatment options that other neurologists have easily explained and recommended. Even though he is the "best" in Central Texas for M.S., I would not recommend him if you are looking for a doctor with whom you can form a therapeutic and trusting relationship. I'm sure he is a fabulous researcher and knowledgeable about some parts of M.S., but patient care and relationships do not seem to be his emphasis or his forte.
