I first met Dr. Houghton when my first son was born. He seemed friendly and informative. I had one major issue with him that I will explain in the following paragraph.
The day we were going home from the hospital he was going to perform our son's circumcision. He was good about explaining the risks and benefits of the procedure. He even went on to say how he was meticulous and tried to do a perfect job every time. So I had a lot confidence that he would do a good job. Anyway he told us he would be back in 25 minutes to get our son and do the procedure. When he came back he said "I'm going to have my resident assisting ME. Four hands are better than two." So I thought ok my doctor is going to do the circumcision and the resident is going to look on. So me and my wife decide to go on a walk past the nursery and There is my doctor watching the resident do my sons circumcision! We asked the nurse what was going on . She went and talked to Dr. Houghton and he came out and talked to us. He explained that the resident had done a lot of these and was very good at it. Which made me feel better, but why didn't he just explain this in the first place? I don't know say something like. If it's ok with you I'm going to supervise my resident as he does the circ. He has a lot of experience doing this. I would have been fine with that. Instead he was very deceptive about it and I no longer trust what he tells me.
